| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 25, 2007 Bottle; mury dark brown. Not much head. Aroma of sweet malt, caramel, peat, smoke and a hint of alcohol. Flavor was much of the same, with some dark fruit elements. Was not in love with the mouthfeel; partial to the style, but this is about average comparatively. matta (1139), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 17, 2007 Thanks to a forgotten rater for sending me this brew in trade!
The body rests a dark shade of chestnut, the head a shade of khaki. Some tart darkened fruits are upfront of the nose, but the smoked malts creep in and add some more complexity. Some hints of green apple, pear, fig, raisins, dates, coco, and campfire. The palate was a bit dusty and chalky but a nice beer overall. However, I’m sticking with my cans of Old Chub. islay (480), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 16, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Dark-malty aroma features fruit (melon, orange) and cigar smoke elements. Pours an amber-tinted translucent brown with a moderate amount of beige head and fleeting legs. Sweet, malty flavor; carmel and roasted nut notes; lemon sourness and slight hops bitterness; reminiscent in taste of a German dunkel. Odd carmel-like aftertaste. Moderate body and carbonation. Creamy texture. An interesting beer but not a particularly good one. sliffy (2012), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 23, 2007 Bottle: Dark brown pour with a tan head. Aroma, smoky, peaty, some roasted malts. Flavor, thick roasted malts, some chocolate, burnt malts, some coffee. Medium to full bodied, pretty nice mouthfeel. Very solid brew. Aurelius (2654), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jan 20, 2007 Tart fruit, light leather, slight cereal malt aroma. Clipart label, cloudy dark brown beer with some chunky sediment. Moderately tangy, peaty, fairly sweet, chalky, aspirin/alcohol bitter, light cocoa. A bit over-carbonated, perhaps. Body is a shade over medium, aftertaste is fruit-cakey. Not bad, but it isn’t going to set the world on fire. Winking Lizard, Cleveland. wmubronco1992 (190), Coldwater, Michigan, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 12, 2007 Bottle. Deep brown color with a twinge of red. Nice frothly tan head, that dissapated rather quickly. Flavor is full and smoky. This is my first Scotch Ale so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but Arcadia definately didn’t let me down. Not a beer to be drank in large quantities because richness and complex flavor needs to be appreciated. Very enjoyable. Trooper11 (467), Suffolk, Virginia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Jan 3, 2007 Gift from homebrewing neighbor, thanks Jamie. Dark brown hazy brew with thick foamy head that gives the illusion of rising bread dough which compliments the strong yeasty bread aroma and leaving behind heavy lacing. Aroma has notes of nutty maltiness and dark fruit. Very heavy bodied, cherry nutty flavor, lots of carbination, more on the malty sweet side with slight bitter hops peering through the thick head which is still hanging tough. A slight burn like a good brandy. Could probably drink this instead of dinner. Nice brew. beerbuzzmontreal (2924), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 3, 2007 Pours a clear dark brown color with reddish brown highlights and a thin light brown head. The aroma is on the sweet, fruity side with its plums and toffee fragrance. The flavor is interesting with plums, raisins, toffee and lightly peated malt. The body is light with a liquorous texture and gentle carbonation. This scotch ale has some interesting elements but they don’t seem to blend well together.
