Poured deep opaque murky brown with a large mottled tan/brown creamy head. Aroma of sweet dusty candy malt, a bit musty and peaty, with dried flowers and alcohol - I got a weird sharp medicinal character as it warmed - iodine, like in islay peated single malts? Taste of fruity candy, again dusty, somewhat boozy, a little bitterness to counteract the overly sweet malt in the finish. Average body, a little astringent and alcoholic on the palate, very nice level of carbonation. An odd must/dust character to it, but quite nice. jerc (3954), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 24, 2006 Following Michigan Brewers Festival 2006. Bottle. Very dark brown with a creamy beige head. Smells like a homebrew shop – specifically Ein Stein in Oakville Ontario! – with hints of that fermenting beer and wine aroma that is pervasive in such places. Fruity, raisins, ever so slight hint of cherries. Sweet malt and a touch of pungent malt extract like notes. Big fruity malt flavour is quite sweet with a very light tang in the finish. Average palate is smooth but could be more full for the style. 7/4/7/3/14 Dorwart (1829), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 8, 2006 Had to fight like hell to get a thin head on this brew. Then it went away in the blink of an eye. Thin ring of foam remans. Although a very nice head did reform upon swirling and the aroma got more complex. Peaty, musty, roasted grain aroma with a little stinky cheese and black cherry. Color is a very dark brown. Soft flavor and body. Plenty of malts, a little smoke and some raisins. Mostly dark roasty malts though. FInish is creamy with a little alcohol warming. Lingering malty dryness. A decent scotch ale. moejuck (1172), Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 4, 2006 The Arcadia Scotch Ale was a pleasant suprise. Picked this one up in a mixed six pack at the local Pit Stop. The pour is a deep brown with definite red hues mixed in. The aroma is of sweet malt, and is very vinuous. The taste follows, with the heaviness of malt coming through strong. The flavors are nice and sweet too--hints of caramel for sure. I will be glad to get my hands on some more in the near future. A very interesting scotch ale." CMUBEERMAN (415), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jun 9, 2006 this brewery is no good. Pours a coca cola amber. Aroma is alcohol and paper, nuts, brown sugar, and caramel. The flavor is sweet caramel and nuts and....tons of paper...gross. Mouthfeel is more greasy than anything else. freekyp (903), Thomasville, North Carolina, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 5, 2006 Deep red brown with a pungent aroma of raisins and caramel, Arcadia Scotch ale does little to hide its impressive alchohol content. Sweet and thick, this brew is a good example of the style. A very slight hoppiness appears in the finish, somewhat tempering the long malty finish. Zeswaft (1000), Seattle, Washington, USA
