| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 3, 2008 12 ounce bottle in pint glass. Garnet red with lasting beige head. Earthy portlike aroma. Sweet cherry pie flavor with mild grassy earthiness. Mild underlying bitterness and surprisingly dry finish. Medium body and medium-low carbo. Fairly complex and well balanced considering the many overly sweet scotch ales out there, I like mine with a little peatiness though. Ok. HonkeyBra (1373), Lemont, Illinois, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jul 11, 2008 Had this on New Years eve and crushed a few of them. Look, if you like scotch ales, this beer isn’t really for you. If you’ve never had a scotch ale, it could turn you off from Scotch ales for a while. So, you really should buy this unless a. it’s your only option, or b. you’re a completist/masochjist/beermo/person who enjoys drinking things that don’t taste good. It’s very caramelly sweet, and kind of metallic. I will not ever buy or drink this again. mansquito (845), Boston/Philadelphia, USA

Caramel and fruit in the flavor. SOmewhat sour. Metallic aftertaste. I didn’t really like this beer at all and tried to trade away most of my six-pack. pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA

Maroon brown in color with a beige head that isn’t long lasting at all. Smell is malt and sweet fruit and toffee. Flavor is light malt sweet roastiness. Super soda carbonation - so bubbly it is fizzy. Way too much for me. Overall, the palate killed this one.
