Commercial Description:
Step into the Scottish Highlands with this authentic Strong Scotch Ale. A lovely and deep garnet color is joined by the aroma of plums and toffee in this unique and special ale. Brewed with Maris Otter malted barley from Crisp Maltings, Ltd. in England, the rich and full-bodied feel of this beer brings out flavors of caramel and roasted chestnuts, which is balanced with a clean and crisp alcohol finish, and just the right amount of lingering hop bitterness. A real treat!

Light ruby color with small head from bottle. On the thin side and alcohol is very present. Sweet as in dried prunes balance well with a nut flavor.

Murky brown with a slowly fading brown head. Aroma of plum, yeast, toffee and nuts. Flavor of nuts, toffee, molasses, caramel, plums and mild alcohol. Typical Arcadia lively carb feel with a sweet and fruity finish.

Pours a four finger light tan head that fades slowly to a ring leaving traces of lace. Deep mahogany color. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Malty nose. Flavor is sweetish molasses and some caramel. $1.79 for a 12oz bottle from Yankee Spirits South Attleboro, Ma.

12 ounce bottle in pint glass. Garnet red with lasting beige head. Earthy portlike aroma. Sweet cherry pie flavor with mild grassy earthiness. Mild underlying bitterness and surprisingly dry finish. Medium body and medium-low carbo. Fairly complex and well balanced considering the many overly sweet scotch ales out there, I like mine with a little peatiness though. Ok.

Had this on New Years eve and crushed a few of them. Look, if you like scotch ales, this beer isn’t really for you. If you’ve never had a scotch ale, it could turn you off from Scotch ales for a while. So, you really should buy this unless a. it’s your only option, or b. you’re a completist/masochjist/beermo/person who enjoys drinking things that don’t taste good. It’s very caramelly sweet, and kind of metallic. I will not ever buy or drink this again.

Pretty dark and a beige head. Metallic smelling and sweet roasty smelling as well. Caramel and fruit in the flavor. SOmewhat sour. Metallic aftertaste. I didn’t really like this beer at all and tried to trade away most of my six-pack.

6-9-08 bottle
Maroon brown in color with a beige head that isn’t long lasting at all. Smell is malt and sweet fruit and toffee. Flavor is light malt sweet roastiness. Super soda carbonation - so bubbly it is fizzy. Way too much for me. Overall, the palate killed this one.
