Commercial Description:
Step into the Scottish Highlands with this authentic Strong Scotch Ale. A lovely and deep garnet color is joined by the aroma of plums and toffee in this unique and special ale. Brewed with Maris Otter malted barley from Crisp Maltings, Ltd. in England, the rich and full-bodied feel of this beer brings out flavors of caramel and roasted chestnuts, which is balanced with a clean and crisp alcohol finish, and just the right amount of lingering hop bitterness. A real treat!

Pours dark brownish with a huge foamy bubbly beige head. Smell is an odd malty brightness. Taste is fruity and malty and obviously way overcarbonated. Kind of foams in the mouth and doesn’t have much of a peaty smoky flavor, which I like, but is probably not comepletely right as it is way to foamy in the mouth and bubbly.

Draft @ Brewpub: Very dark amber pour. Aroma and flavor of sweet caramel malts and alcohol. Some roasted nuts. Full-bodied, but not as crisp as I would have liked.

12 oz. brown bottle. No freshness date seen. Poured out a deep, murky brown color, with a thin mocha colored head. Aromas are of smoked raisins, funky lager yeast. Flavors are not much better, with a smoky malt presence, mixed with roasted malt / burnt sugar, and stale hops. Not the best Scotch ale I ever had.

A dark reddish brown yet very clear. I try to pour my beers very carefuly into a slightly and I still got a head more than half of the glass, more than I prefer. Also more bitter hops than I like. Did someone drop an Alka-Slezer into my drink?

Strong aroma. Nice thick color. Rich, deep taste. Much richer than other scotch ales I’ve had. It leaves a great coating on my tounge. Leaves me with a good impression. A very quality scotch ale to enjoy in the mid-day.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear dark brown with a thin off-white head that disappeared after the first two sips. Very earthy aroma of heavily peated malt and pumpkin. The flavor was again heavily peated malt, which just overpowered anything else going on with this beer. There is also a strong alcohol flavor that emerges near the finish. I like scotch ales very much, but I could do without this one.
