Subtle hints of scotch and caramel. Some scotch ale drinkers that I have spoken to have said that this beer was very mild in taste, if this was mild, I am not so sure I want to try anything else. It had a nice balance with minimal aftertaste. A bit on the sweet side.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 13, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours a clear, dark ruby-brown body with a thin, tan head that dissipates quickly and leaves a light lacing. Aroma is medium sweet caramels. raisin, chocolate, nuts, and a light tart berry. No real roast or smoke. Flavor is an earthy, peaty, medium sweet caramel with a dry bitterness, charred toffee, vegetal chocolate, slightly tart plum, and some nuts. Finishes dry with a slight smoke, light bitterness and some plummy caramels. Medium bodied, clean, and smooth. Overall, its not bad in the least bit and its nicely balanced and tasty, but I’m looking for a little more roast/smoke and thick caramel-chocolate sweetness. Not a lot of alcohol taste in the finish either which I like in my scotch ale. deyholla (771), Bloomington, Indiana, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 14, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours cloudy dark brown with a nice lasting light tan head. Aroma includes malty cola and light figgy notes. Flavor is peaty, nutty and rather hoppy for a scotch ale, with a particularly dry finish. Medium-light bodied and relatively smooth with moderate carbonation and some warming in the finish. Not a great example of a scotch ale, but pretty decent nonetheless.
