Commercial Description:
Starboard Stout is a unique Irish Oat Malt Stout. Deep black in color, with garnet undertones, it has a robust yet well-balanced chocolatey roasted malt character and a creamy mouthfeel. A subtle and complex hop flavor and aroma is provided by Willamette and Cascade.

Bottled. Thick, opaque brown-nearly black. Thick, slowly dissipating beige head. Hints of cold coffee and copper in mouth. Mildly smokey nose. I really enjoyed this.

My bottle (12oz), shared with tupalev. Pours a very dark brown with an average size diminishing light-brown head. Aroma of lightly roasted malt, mild chocolate, sour fruit and oats. Dry, acidic flavour of lightly roasted malt, coffee, some light sourness, oats and mild chocolate. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Decent but I don’t care for these slightly sour acidic Stouts so much.

Sweet sugar aroma with faint roasted malts. Flat pour. Dark brown in color. Some cough syrup combines with ashtray and cherries with a modest bitterness. Fairly watery. Their porter is great!

Dark brown. Small white head. Roasty malts and grains with some definite oats, dark chocolate, and some subtle hops on the finish. Body is medium with balanced carbonation. Decent.

On tap at Mad Mex Robinson...blah is all I can say. Tastes too much like the "G" word. Pour was a beautiful dark brown with an almond head. Roasted malt, dry and bitter taste. Watery aftertaste. Not the best offering from the brewer

Thin brown head of fine bubbles. Smoked salmon, terriaki sauce, sweet malts and a bit of roastyness. Lots of smoke though. Color is a essentially black. Dry and slightly bitter palate. Big roastyness and and burnt steak. Lots of carbon and ash. Not very sweet. Pretty dry and chalky. Finishes roasty and smokey. Not a very good stout.

Courtesy somebody. Black with a dark tan head, kind of unexciting. Thin mouthfeel for a beer using oats. Taste pretty boring and watery, virtually no hop character and very little roast character.

Thought it was gross. Dry, lacking flavor, entirely insubstantial. Waste of my time. I guess the only plus was it had alcohol in it.
