| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 19, 2007 This literally exploded out of the bottle, with about 10-15% going to waste as foam. It finally settled down in the glass to a deep dark brown, with a too-thick tan head. Aroma was a sweet chocolate, and the mouthfeel was tingly and, of course, highly carbonated. The pleasant flavor of sweet chocolate and toffee was somewhat offset by the body that was a bit on the thin side. Finish was decent, but somewhat watery and short in duration, due to a combination of the watery body and low alcohol content.
A so-so beer. Beerdedone (1885), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 8, 2007 Starboard Stout pours an opaque dark brown with a thick resilient brown head. Though an oatmeal stout, little of the characteristic sweetness shows through. This brew is all black coffee and bitter baking chocolate. Tasty, but I prefer sweeter stouts. Nice lingering roast finish.
