Black color with a thin head. Nice roasted and bitter malt aroma with some coffee notes. The taste is highly bitter, mainly earthy hops and burnt malt. I’m not getting the oat smoothness. I like the aroma better, but it’s not a bad beer.

Black pour with a moderate tan head. Aroma is roast, oats, coffee, ash, chocolate, hint of caramel. Flavor brings this, some malt bitterness with a fairly light body. Enjoyable and quaffable.

(bottle - 12 oz) Dark black pour with a creamy looking tan head. Aroma is roasty and chocolaty with a nice coffee malt undertone. Flavor has a good roasted malt beginning with a middle of chocolate, coffee, molasses, and some light hops. Finish is very chewy and creamy from the oat malts. A little bitter and quickly fading. Really nice.

Light aroma of oat and malt with hints of roastedness, a little sweet grain trickles in as it warms, medim bodied at best, chocolate ,molassas, grain hop in the taste, with a slight unsweetened dark chocolate finish. Could use more of the oats, lacks the smoothness of the style. Nice enough, not in top 10 of style

Very dark pour, tan head, that is gone quickly. Lots of bitter chocolate, roasted malts, hops, decent flavor to it. I enjoyed it!

Pours muddy dark black with a small light brown head. Aroma is moderatly malty, roasted and nutty malts, dark chocolate and strong coffee, with a hint of port wine. Flavor is balanced twards the bitter side, roasted malts and dark chocolate. Light to medium bodied, watery, softly carbonated.

A new arrival at my local beer store, the Beer Store in Moon. Starboard Stout by Arcadia. Now that I know it’s a sweet stout, things are looking up. 12 oz brown bottle. Pop the lid and you get a notable stout aroma laced with the effluvium of chocolate milk. Opaque blackish brown and the head is dark tan, almost brown. Lots of baronial streaming bubbles can be seen rising on the inside of the glass. Makes me think about the streams I can’t see due to the opaqueness. Very wallah initial impressions on the taste buds, a creamy roastyness that is easy to enjoy. There are some overly roasted (burnt?) bitter hints laying in wait behind the major flavors. This gradually builds to leave a burned wet wood paresthesia at the back of your throat. Nice palate and the carbonation is just about right. Very nice colorful lacing rides the side of the glass, and that brown color foam makes it ludic to watch. Overall this is a decent brew, mostly because I really enjoy the sweet stout style. Not quite as good as Mackeson, Wild goose or Sammy Smiths but much better than Bells Cherry Stout. On par with Bells Double Cream and Mendicino Winter ale. Finish is not bad considering the building medium incondite bitterness on the back of the tongue.

bottle- pours black, with small tan head. smells strongly of fruit, and chocolate and sweet sugar almost like a brown sugar. has a coffee flavor, chocolate, and suprisingly doesnt have those fruits promised in the nose. its quite watery and not thick like other oatmeals i have had.
