Poured opaque black with thin beige head and only a hint of lacing. Aroma was full of inviting chocolate and coffee! Flavor was disappointing and consisted more of burnt chocolate and coffee. What a let down! This is a rather watery stout. Not much body to this one. Very light carbonation, but very little creaminess. Such huge potential poured from the bottle, but let down by the flavor and feel :-(

On tap at the brewery. A beauty in the glass - creamy tan head sits atop an opaque midnight brown body. Traditional aroma of coffee and chocolate with some black licorice thrown into the mix. Hits the palate as creamy but thin. Flavor accentuated by instant coffee, brownie cake mix and caramelized pecans. A little syrup and vinegar in the finish. Decent, but nothing notable.

Pitch black in colour with a small amount of light getting through on the bottom (90% opaque) with a full microfroth brown head. Nearly perfect to the eye. Aroma of bitter oats, coffee, chocolate and some faint tea. Medium to Full-bodied; Suprisingly acidic and lactic taste with cherries, milk and tea dominating the flavour. Aftertaste shows some chocolate and coffee, but mostly the lactic tastes I had initially. Overall, a good beer - looks and smells great, just comes off a bit different in the taste. Regardless, good to try! I sampled this 12 ounce bottle purchased from Merchant’s Fine Wines in Dearborn, Michigan on 21-May-2005 in the Motor City.

This is pretty dark, couldn’t see any light coming thru’.Had a inch or so of rich tan foam.Nose is chocolatey and roasted malts.Got a funky taste and feel on the tongue.Maybe it is just to watery as the taste just doesn’t show up.

pours a nice dark brown w/ a hint of reddish in it and a fair sized brown head and lots of carbonation bubbles w/ some decent lacing. scent is a little bitter roasted malts weak chocolate overall a pretty week smell. Palate is highly carbonated a bit thin. Flavor is almost overpowered by some of the carbonation. a very roasty flavor a decent bitter hop not much of an oatmeal flavor or body to speak of pretty much just a roast malt... this is nothing special

Very dark with a small, creamy head. Chocolate/malt aroma. Flavor is slightly roasty and mineraly. Not very bold, though. Finish is coffee and malt, but not terribly profound and somewhat weak.
