Chocolate and roast malts in the nose with some bitterness. Slighly astringent coffee notes. The flavor is bitter and slightly astringent again. Cocoa and roast malts are around. Dry, thin body and a roasty finish. BückDich (4857), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 19, 2005 Dark muddy color, then head with oily lacing. Nose of dark roast and light mocha chocolate notes, almost like a light city roasted coffee. The flavor is dusty but with a lactic light sweetness. The finish is also a bit dry with more roasted husky character. Not too bad but not that great. SuIIy (1486), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 9, 2005 weak. Not dark enough nor rich enough to be a quality stout. Smells of coffee and has a bitter ending to it. Bigsky66 (148), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA

| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 1/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Mar 2, 2005 The second bottle I opened, was also a gusher. This time I didn’t drink it, so this rating is based upon the first bottle. Taste is light dry coffee up front with a strange light bitterness. For a sweet stout, it’s more bitter than it should be. Perhaps the bottle was slightly tainted. Gotta try it again on tap somehow. 11026 (1779), Alabama, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Feb 27, 2005 Bottle. A gusher upon opening. This frightens me from the get go. Black colored with an oversized brown fluffy head which has no choice but to leave lacing behind. Thin roasted malt aroma. Overcarbonated on the palate. Sparse roasted malt flavor of coffee and chocolate. Lacking in body. I suspect this is infected and will have to try again. russnug (35), Erie, Pennsylvania, USA
