Commercial Description:
Starboard Stout is a unique Irish Oat Malt Stout. Deep black in color, with garnet undertones, it has a robust yet well-balanced chocolatey roasted malt character and a creamy mouthfeel. A subtle and complex hop flavor and aroma is provided by Willamette and Cascade.

Lifeless deep brown with a very thin head around long enough for me to type this sentence. Aroma of roasted malts, smoke, pear and sweet malts. Taste of deep roasted malts, coffee with a semi bitter finish.

12 oz bottle. A nice caramel colored head atop a black body. Sweet caramel and irish creme aroma. Hoppy flavor in a pretty good overall stout. Chocolate and dryness are both enjoyable, with a nice dark appearance and head. There was something there I didn’t really care for.

Oaty robust malt aroma. Very dark amber color with a large dark tan head. Chocolate bitterness in the beginning with a milder finish. Light palate.

Pour is a black with a small tan head. Aroma is has a nice dark chocolate and coffee combo. Flavor is some roasted malts and a whole lotta watery. Very light for the style and nothng really outstading. This brewer is either a big hit or big miss.

On nitro @ brewpub: Pours dark, creamy tan head as you’d expect. Smells sweet, and of caramel malts. A bit watered down (maybe due to nitro), but flavor is heavily roasted malt, toffee, and a bit spiced overtop chocolate malts. Not bad.

12 oz. bottle. Pours black with a moderate light brown head that lasted until mid-glass and left partial lace. Pleasant aroma of chocolate, raisins, and sweet malt. This is one of those beers where the flavor is completely disconnected from the aroma. Predominantly roasted malt with no fruit or sweetness at all. The flavor then becomes smokey and dry with notes of ash. Light on the palate and very dry; definitely not creamy. Disappointing.

Smooth easy drinking sweetish style stout. That has a distinct crystal malt character to it. The finish is long a silky and perhaps the best aspect of the beer.

Bottle purchased at the brewery. Nice chewy Oatmeal Stout. Light bodied and hint of roasted malts and chocolate. Drinkable - not overly exciting.
