Bottled. Poured deep brown with a short cap of cappuccino head.. looked very nice. The aroma picked up lightly sour lactic notes over sweeter chocolates and coffee notes.. dry oatmeal deep down.. decent, but not great. The flavor had semi-sweet, sticky chocolates at the core with milky sweetness surrounding.. lactic sourness on the finish with some darker sugars.. very sweet, medium-length finish. Medium-bodied with too much carbonation on the palate.. decent all around, with nothing standing out.

Black body with a light brown head. The aroma is apple chips with some iced tea and milk chocolate. The taste has some light sweetened mocha notes. There is also a little bit of that apple chip character. The body is a little too carbonated for me. However, this is a decent balance of bitter and fruity sweet that is pleasant. Decent brew.

On nitro at the Gate. Deep black in color with a nice fluffy creamy off white head. Malty and chocolatety caramel aroma. Roasty coffee notes. Malty and bittersweet chocolatety flavor. Caramel notes. Finish is dry. Full bodied. Very drinkable. Nice beer.

Pours black with a fine, tan head. Aroma is coffee and very roasty. Flavor is coffee with a lot of roast flavors and a mildly sour aftertaste.

Poured from 12 oz bottle that must have been tossed around before I purchased it as it exploded into 6 inches of head when I poured it into my pint glass! Other than the champagne-like opening, it’s a nice chocolate malt, sweet stout. I’d drink it again...but pour it in an imperial pint glass!

The color is a midnight black color with little color change when held to the light. There is a nice tan head but quickly dissipates and little lace. The smell is strong roasted barely. If it wasn’t so black I would wonder if that is the only grain they used. The taste has a more astringent quality with more of a burnt coffee flavor. Although it is not real dominate, there is a sweetness on the aftertaste that gives this beer a sort of tartness knock to it. The flavor lasts a little in your mouth. Slowly the tartness goes away but the burnt roasted flavor stays. Nice lasting flavor. In my opinion this is more tart than sweet and not really what I like in oatmeal stouts. The body is more of a mid level characteristic which holds the beer back.

12oz. Bottle: Dark brown body w/ a brown head. Very strong roasted malt aroma w/ a hint of dark fruitiness chilling out in the background. Strong roasted malt in the flavor, what a surprise. A bit of chocolate & a bitter, dark roasted/burnt finish. Thin on the palate, but very good. I’ll be interested to see how next years batch turns out.

Bottled. Pours very deep brown. Large tan head, that doesn’t dissipate. Head is huge, with very large bubbles on bottom, and a creamy head a the top. Flavors of burnt caramel and chocolate with just a touch of acidity. Smells of roasted malt and alcohol. Decent drink, might do it again.
