tastes good though, a little coffee/chocolate flavor, a little acidic. fairly sweet, and a little watery. JonR888710 (999), Cochabamba, Bolivia
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 16, 2008 From my great friend jgb9348. Pours pitch black, with a sandy brown colored head that lasts all of 5 seconds. Big smell, Aussie aerosol hairspray, hops, chocolate, coffee and alcohol. Wet taste, chocolate, sour milk, alcohol, extreme roastiness, meaty, and hops that are a bit skunky, ala cheap lager. Aftertaste is sodawater and chocolate. Odd, oatmeal sediment in bottom of glass. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 7, 2008 Rich, black pour with a bubbly tan head. Not much lacing. Malty aroma with arboreal touches. This is a hoppy stout with a fair amount of sourness and acidity. It is smoky and dry, but a little thin too. This is not a sweet stout, by the way. Something about it reminds me of sitting by a smoky campfire and writing poetry. Here is the poem:
This is a smoky-toasty brew /
You’ll probably like it too /
It’s a perfectly decent stout /
But no need to seek it out /
The taste is close to draft Guinness /
Now this little poem is finished

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 2, 2008 Updated: Mar 20, 200812oz bottle. Deep black with a nice tan head on it. Aroma is very nice, with some chocolate and oat coming through. A roasted chocolate taste is quite evident throughout as well, but it is well balanced by the crisp hoppiness. Delicious and creamy with lots of subtle character. cking (1041), North Canton, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 26, 2008 Good aroma of roasted coffee and chocolate with some burnt, bitter malt. Dark brown/black color with a constant 1/2" thick brown head and good thick lacing. Medium bodied stout, bitter and creamy. Very drinkable with a calm ease. Burnt, nutty flavors with coffee and cream along with a hint of chocolate. Mild floral hops, the beer has a nice balancing bitterness to all of the sweet and roasted malt. A good drinkable stout, nothing too hearty or over the top. Average, but it does not disappoint. scraff (1947), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Feb 25, 2008 Infected - Will re-rate with a fresh one (when ever I get my hands on another) Black, foamy tan head. Funky brett-like nose with just a hint of chocolate roast. Sour lemon funked flavors mixes with just a faint roasty note. Light bodied and thin, crazy carbonation, funked finish. Obviously this is not the intention by the brewer, so I’m calling it like I see it for the moment. If it helps anyone, D2 was notched on the bottle... blipp (1700), Newark, New Jersey, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Feb 24, 2008 Bottle. Pours black with a brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate and smoke. Body is way too thin for a stout. Flavor is smoked malt, burnt wood and bitter coffee. A fuller body would make this beer much better, but it’s not awful as is. Gregis (1133), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 23, 2008 Pours jet black with a small, creamy, tan head that slides down the sides of the glass when swirled. This one is picture perfect, with the head settling to a thin cap at the surface. The nose is of dark, roasted, chocolate malt, light oats and faint hops. Light to medium-bodied and silky smooth, with a dry, bitter, roasted finish and a mild lactose-like sourness lingering alongside the roast. Dark roast, lactose?, light coffee and light hop bitterness combine in a very drinkable combination. I’m surprised to see this rated so lowly. This may not be a top-tier sweet stout, but it is pretty tasty.
