| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Dec 26, 2002 Okay, this rating will be a bit biased due to the way it was served to me. It was served just slightly cooler than room temperature from a hand pulled tap. Yes, this is light for a stout. The color is nice and dark and the beer flows past the tongue too quick to be a stout. I had my pint in under five minutes. This is also a credit to the beer. It had bitter, smoky, and sweet malt flavors all in perfect harmony (for me at least). If you ever get a chance to drink this on a hand pulled tap, please do. It really is that good is pampered properly. hopscotch (5501), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

Pitch black! Mid-sized, frothy, lightly-tanned head. Partially lasting.
The nose is of rich English chocolate with a touch of cinnamon, vanilla and maple syrup.
Perfect!
Well-balanced with loads of vanilla and milk chocolate in the flavor. Acetic and lightly bitter with dark roasted coffee notes as well.
Full-bodied with a very creamy mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Lengthy, burnt/roasted finish. Perfect balance remains until the very end! A world-class Stout! Underrated! NightOwl (45), Midland, Michigan, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jul 24, 2003 Dark brown hue with tan small head, good lacing. Nice smoky, chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt aroma. Some ripe fruit and spices detected on the the nose too. Nice coffee and sweet chocolate balance, hint of hoppy freshness on the finish. Medium to full-bodied with a soft and creamy mouthfeel. A nice oatmeal stout that I will have again. Raaha (67), Michigan, USA

Very dark brown, opaque pour with a nice, thick tan head. Sweet coffee, charcoal smoke and bitter chocolate in the nose, which carried neatly into the flavor, enhanced by a bit of dark cherry and roasted nuts. Very nice stout. beerguy101 (3946), Newark, California, USA
