Commercial Description:
Arcadia Whitsun is a modern interpretation of a mid-19th century English spring and summer festival ale. It is light golden in color with a rich, creamy head, full bodied and has a lightly toasted caramel flavor. The addition of Michigan star thistle honey contributes a uniquely smooth drinkability to this unfiltered wheat ale.

Hazy gold color with a medium head. Holy corriander! That spice makes a head on appearance in the aroma and taste. More orange flavor, but something like rotten wheat finished it out. An unfortunate end.

(12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with Sully, thanks Mike) Massive carbonation release when opening the bottle, a glass full of very bubbly head, and dozens of steady streams of quickly-moving carbonation bubbles, so this is going to take awhile to settle down. Light orange in color and fully cloudy, I can’t believe how long this show is lasting, will the bubbles ever subside? At least they are doing a great job of mixing in the final few yeasty drops from the bottle. Well, the beer smells more like a witbier than an American wheat, but it’s not exactly a coriander smell either. It smells lightly sweet, fairly herbal, and somewhat floral. The flavor tastes similar to a witbier as well, some orange citrus perhaps, rather herbal, a little like coriander, but not spicy per se. Surprising for a wheat beer, but I’m also picking up a fair amount of sweet, caramely maltiness in the background. Nevertheless, the herbal character is easily the most prominent aspect of the flavor. Body is medium (or maybe just slightly less than medium), so it’s heavier than just about every American wheat I’ve tried. Overall, it’s an interesting take on the style, and I certainly welcome the variation from what is normally a boring and unpleasant beer style, but in the end, it’s not really grabbing me either.

Sweet malty aroma. Orange. Very light banana flavor, as well as heather. I taste no hops at all. Some yeast. A full bodied American wheat, and one of the few worth trying.

aggressively carbonated main drawback offset by very peachy aroma and some peach in taste. Orange appearance. Made worth trying by single bottle allotment at WIld Oats in Cleveland. Malt, yeast and wheat there. More hops please.

Hazy yellow pour with medium white head. Nose is sweet, with light fruits popping into the picture, as well as honey and some mild hop. Flavor is more interesting than anticipated, but still boring charting this brew as a mediocre wheat.

Was trying to figure out the style of this one, rather surprised it’s American Wheat. Bright, vaguely hazy orange. Nose spicy, lots of orange, candy sugar, herbal. Flavor creamy, toasty, yeasty, very honey-sweet. Very fruity, apricot and apple. Bit thick and heavy for a wheat. Interesting stuff, significantly more than I would have expected.

Peach gold color with a quite opaque look. Aroma is malty and somewhat herbal, slightly sharp. Very oaken, piney flavor with lots of caramel malt and wheat showing through. Rather cloying finish, perhaps just a bit too much of that honey is used. Overall this seems more like a heavier Fraoch Heather Ale than a summer festival ale, but I still recommend trying it if you come across it.

out of a keg from the brewery for the 4th. This was a decent brew. Nothing too extremely exciting. A good wheat beer though. Some honey and lemon, banana, and some creamy yeasty flavors. great summer beer just not much imagination.
