Commercial Description:
This is an aggressive beer. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth.

Pours a dark amber, almost brown, with light brown and consistant head with tons of lacing. Deep malty aroma, along with loads of grapefruity hops. Extreme hop-dryness. Thick, with a great sweet malt undertone to fill out the body. Long after-taste, with a slight zingy zest. A consistently solid American Strong Ale by Stone.

Very hoppy, bitter, floral taste. Hoppy aroma, well balanced, and very quaffable. A very enjoyable brew.

Stone Oak Aged Arrogant Bastard - Cask @ Real Ale Fest

Oh my grannies bustle, this was my second most favorite at the Real Ale Fest, just a tad behind the Russian River OVL Stout, in fact I had several samplers of this to be sure I was able to judge its character lol.

A somewhat hazy brown, the head a tan crown that was creamy in texture, the lace a thick coating upon the glass, with the nose sweet with the aroma of malt and Oak, hints of alcohol and bubble gum, yummy is a good description. Start was ambrosial, thick with malt, the top moderate to full in its feel. Finish was moderate in it’s a acidity, the hops delightful, quite dry and a bit of a tummy warmer, one damn fine beer in this old dawg’s book.

Re-Rate 01/16/02: Been a while sence I had this bad boy, and it is a beer that 99.9% of the beer drinkers will not like? But I believe if you 'Can't Run With The Big Dogs, Stay On The Porch'. Pours a deep dark ruby brown, large beige head and lots of lace. Nose is malt, some what toasted, hints of hops, the start is malt, the middle full, robust, the finish is hop bitter and dry. Very hearty, a 'Beer Lovers' beer, not meant for the Palate Challenged Lite Beer Drinkers'.

Formidable brew. Funny label and write-up on the back. Fruit-cakey aroma: malt, fruit, spice, vanilla, nuts. Rusty beer with silky thin head. Woody, tannic, strong hops, starchy mouthfeel. Loooong finish. Almost like a winter beer.

Draught @ Brouwer’s Cafe pours dark amber, very red, medium off-white head, light carbonation, with attractive lacing.   Malty nose, somewhat strong phenols.   Sweet malty goodness up front, strong, with a slight hop twang.   I used to think this beer was overly hopped, but not anymore.   Clean finish, smooth, warming... and big on the palate.   Body and mouthfeel are very enjoyable.   Some actual citrus on the finish, along with a big dose of malts with that underlying hop background.   Tasty!

Dark amber colored beer with a foamy light tan head. Hops and caramel in the aroma. Sweet and fruity and a typical Stone aroma! Very nice and inviting! Flavor is dominated by bitter hops on a sweet malty and caramelly base. Very flavorfull and complex with a perfect balanced bitterness. Dry in the end! Excellent!

[308-20070510] Bottle. Citrus hoppy aroma has notes of vegetable. Hazy, brown red body with a quick foamy brown head. Boozy hoppy grass flavour with veggie notes and a nice aftertaste. Medium-full body. Nice, well-blended.

Bottle. Well, first off, the bottle was pretty damn funny. But once you get passed it, you’re left with a pretty solid beer. Citrus hop aroma from a ruby red body. Strong alcohol taste, but thin enough for the hops to get through and bite you, while giving a smooth malt taste. A unique balancing act for sure, but I thought it tasted stronger than the 7.2%, which distracted me a bit. A fine beer though.
