Commercial Description:
This is an aggressive beer. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth.

Pours with an opaque deep amber brown/mohagony body topped by a very thick creamy head that overflowed the glass. A good amount of lace was left behind. Somewhat sour, yet sweet and fruity (similar to mango)aroma with good malty notes. Sweet and fruity (melon) malt flavor with a slight touch of alcohol. The finish is smokey with coffee notes. Full bodied and slightly dry with a touch of warmth.

careful with this beer. it will catch you off guard. The beer pors almost red but has a bite that will throw you off. It is a heavy beer with a taste that is equal to the match. A tough beer this is a beer for the experts. Black Diamond beer run for this beer. Prost!!!

Rated 7/28/07. Bomber in Las Vegas, NV. Clear, dark reddish-amber color. Rocky off-white head that settles to a patchy film with a bubbly honeycomb appearance. Nice lacing all the way down the glass. The aroma is a very nice blend of caramel, herbal hops, toffee and biscuit. As appealing as the aroma is, its the flavor that really steals the show here. Simple yet intriguing, the taste tiptoes down the tightrope between overt bitterness and supreme craftsmanship, settling on the latter. This beer has a very whisky-like profile in its masterful blending of caramel, toffee, and biscuit, three of the classic whiskey tastes. The hoppiness of this brew approaches perfection, as any more or less would certainly throw off its near perfect balance. Medium body that goes down smooth and leaves behind a lingering bitterness. This is a very good beer in all respects, one that must be analyzed thoroughly to fully appreciate all that it has to offer.

Draught at Sunset Bar and Grill, Boston, MA.</br> Amber with a fine lacy off-white head. Big fruity aroma, grapefruit. Big bitter start with plenty of flavour but not what I like.

22oz bottle, fresh bottle sampled next to arather fresh oaked bastard. pours a deep mahogony with fluffy head. identical appearance to oaked a.b. big malty aroma with PNW hops, nose of brown sugar, grapefruit, caramel, and toffee. very malty taste perfectly balanced with PNW hops. sticks on palate well. easy to drink, alcohol well hidden. every sip desires another. just an amazing beer, perhaps the oaked was a little more complex.3.8.

11/27/07, 22oz bottle. i still enjoy this but I find it a bit too much and overwhelming. there’s nothing refined about this beer, the hops and malts are brash and it doesn’t go down easy. i can see enjoying this from time to time but I’d never want to drink it often.3.7.

1 pt. 6 fl. oz. bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.2%. Dark brown to ruby colour, big to moderate light tan head. Nice but surprisingly moderate aroma of floral and fruity hops. "Arrogance" shows its face in the flavour, with a distinct and aggressive hoppy bitterness from start to finish. There is a certain malty sweetness in the background, but I cannot say the Arrogant Bastard belongs in the "well balanced" category. It is probably not meant to belong there. Perhaps I am "not worthy" after all? My wife said she liked it, though. Spooky ...

Poured reddish brown with a nice off white head...smells sweet alcohol with lemony hint...tastes very rich and complex...very sweet at first then turning bitter and sour...definately a good one to have once a year...

A very aggressive taste. If you like hoppy flavor, you’ll love this one.
