This isn't beer; it's really fermented grapefruit juice! Hops are dominating, and the grapefruit flavor is immediate and thick. I love the color of this one too- it is dark amber/red, fitting for a beer with an arrogant gargoyle on the bottle. Arrogant Bastard is a top-notch ale, and pleasantly strong! Update...no change in score, but I found this on tap at Mac & Joes in Oxford, Ohio, a sign that the world is not yet ending, as there is good beer to be quaffed. zach8270 (2127), Henrietta, New York, USA

Slightly roasted nose with a very strong fruity flavor following. Initial citrusy flavor with a bitter and dry finish. Very smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Aftertaste is rather bitter but has a certain citrus and malt mix that is just delicious. bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark

Full floral hop aroma with lots of pineapple and grapefruit in the nose. Nice malt backbone with sweet grapefruit/citrus flavors. It does taste like the Double Bastard’s little brother, but the DB is so huge that little brother is still damn good. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Deep copper with a small white head. crisp citrus hoppy aroma, there is also a little bit of caramel? This is great, lots of bitterness up front, creamy body with lots of malt to back it up. Finish is bitter but doesn’t last quite as long as Rogue Santa. I’m looking forward to trying the Double Bastard that I have stowed away somewhere. mkobes (2104), paramus, New Jersey, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 22, 2009 1 pint, 6 oz. bottle@Olympen,Oslo. A mostly lasting dense yellow head upon a translucent, reddish-brown colored body. Aroma has a strong earthy, grassy and piny hoppiness, (almost) balanced by some toasted dark malts and a scent of toffee/cream-caramel. Taste is dominated by earthy and piny bittering hops. Sour- sweet maltiness underneath. Notes of citrus and spices. Mouthfeel is quite sharp, bordering to astringency. Medium body strenght. A powerful and punchy one, and certainly rough on the palate.
