Arrogant Bastard is a deep red color, with very fine carbonation. More choice blending of hops and malt in the flavor. Malt is almost sticky sweet, but the earthy hop flavors are right on top of it to make sure it doesn't run too far. I like the hops that are in this beer, whatever they are. I do have a preference for the piney, spicy hops over the citrusy or less complex ones. Finish sees some tingle on the palate from the hoppiness, then both malt and hops mingle again. Similar in profile to a Winter Warmer or English Strong style, but has a bit more bitterness than most of those. Quite tasty. My kind of thing. Not yours, though. ;) Angeloregon (2025), Portland, Oregon, USA

Aroma is piny, fruity, citrus hops with a big malt spine. Great balance of hops and malts. A little sweet, but not overly so. On the verge of being to big, but like most Stone brews, this one walks the line. Great beer. dirtymike (2018), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth. Absolutely. Nice aroma tho. Some carbonation but the tremendous amount of green citrus rind, turns me off more. First mellow then suddenly offensive. Quite rude and non apologetic. Excessively arrogant. Way too much for me and my sissy taste buds. Good example of this rude style. sliffy (2012), Columbus, Ohio, USA

Flavor, rich caramel, and some slight roasted malts, nutty, toffee, with a nice bit of earthy hops, and bitterness. It’s nice going back to it after so many other beers. It’s not what I remembered at all, but for once, that is a good thing. Usually something that I loved a couple years ago pales in comparison to what I like now, but this is definitely an exception. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Oct 7, 2007 Pour is reddish brown with a light head. Smell is malty sweetness, with some hops showing through. Taste is sweet but not overly at all, followed by a mild drying hop finish. Thich, and rich for the style, while flavors are somewhat mild actually. Nice bitterness at first, but it turned medicinal and aspirin tablet-like a bit. Not bad, but wasn’t too crazy about it either. FROTHINGSLOSH (2010), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 7, 2004 Updated: Oct 27, 2009I have long been fond of this beer. Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle ( I love the bottle - must admit that I am a sucker for their attitude/ad campaign). Pours a cloudy brown color (same color as the bottle in fact). No light shines through. Small tan head. The aroma is of grapefruit and molasses. The flavor is sharp and bitter with a strong grapefruit presence. This beer really slaps you in the face with hop presence. Some sweet maltiness comes along as the beer warms up a bit, but overall this is a really unbalanced beer. The hops really overwhelm any other flavor present. The sweet grapefruit flavor sticks to the tongue and lingers forever on the aftertaste. I have had this frequently on draft as well, and found it to be much less sharp and a little better balanced when on draft. decaturstevo (1997), decatur, Tennessee, USA

A huge hop aroma I know there is malt in there somewhere but I can’t smell it. Also a huge hop flavor. Balance of hops and malt I’m not sure about that but there is plenty of hops. A nice palate and oh yea did I mention the bitter at the end? No lingering alcohol in this as well. I like it and would drink it again.
