Aroma is big, citrus and sweet malt in the back. Taste starts bitter, the middle being sweet malt and light fruit with a long lasting bitter finish. Big, full body... Sometimes i have it, its pretty good (tap and fresh bottles). If you get an old bottle like most of them here in so. NM, then forget it. I dont like Chinnok Hops, which is what is used here. The hop profile here is oily, piney, resiny and really damn dry. A good malt backbone i must say. I lowered the score a few points. I guess my palate is becoming more discriminating!
RERATE-22oz bottle-Damn, now i know what everybody is talking about in this one. this beer is the most balanced beer by far from the stone line. perfect marriage of hops and malts. Im so glad this is available in New Mexico(im moving there in a month for graduate school)

The RAF guide said this was stored in an oak barrel, which may have given this brew a different taste than what i was expecting. Also, i sampled this brew right after the 3F’s Behemoth, which may have mangled my palate for this sample. Needless to say, what i sampled was very toned down from what i was expecting, but still very good

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 28, 2008 Sampled on draught, pours a thick cloudy copperish colour with a medium sized white head. Aroma is hoppy, with piney notesm, wood, bourbon and smoke. Taste is astringent, again hoppy, citrusy and aggresive indeed. Tackles your palate right off the bat. I think if I would have had more then one pint of this I would have had trouble riding my bike home. scraff (1946), Baltimore, Maryland, USA

Nose is full of citrus, light pine, florals, and some sweet buttery caramel to boot. Hoppy is an understatement, but really it comes through with a nice sweet malty balance. Medium to full-bodied, medium carbonation, lengthy bitter dry finish. In my book, Stone does no wrong....ever! BillKismet (1945), Seattle, Washington, USA

The alcohol was well hidden and the body is smooth, tasty and drinkable, with a superb malt backbone. Excellently crafted and perilously drinkable. MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jul 12, 2001 Lovely caramel maltiness with a lingering kick of alcohol. It’s strong, agressive, and has one of the best dang labels around. MrRomero (1934), Nolanville, Texas, USA
