Taste is grapefruity hops and a very nice maltiness is here as well to compliment. Not too thick either. jasonp (1513), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA

Dark amber/cherryish color this complex ale is full of hops with a citrusy, malty, caramel and pine-like taste. Some chocolate, earthiness and roastiness too. Extremely bitter and delicious! Mouthfeel is very full, round and creamy. Great lacing and head retention. Highly recommended. Swalden28 (1512), McKinney, Texas, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 7, 2008 Updated: Mar 25, 2009Bottle....Poured a deep translucent red with off-white head that had excellent retention that laced the glass. Aroma of hops was very noticeable upfront, lets you know what your in for. Surprisingly enough, it was incredibly smooth, nice balance of aroma, malty sweetness, and high bitterness and alcohol presence barely noticeable, with a full bodied mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Good Ale! shadey (1501), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | May 9, 2004 Updated: Aug 26, 2006I must not have been drinking the same thing as the rest of you guys. The color and head were beautiful and the texture was nice, but the actual flavor was very alcoholy and bitter. I didn’t like it at all. I couldn’t even finish it. 8/4/3/3/9
RERATE: Dark color reddish brown color. Delicate ring of tight white creamy bubbles. Aroma is bitter hops. Dark, resiny. Also as the beer warms up, the malt starts to show up. The flavor is very bitter with an abundance of hops. Fresh, rough, Arrogant. Ethereal (1500), London, Greater London, England
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 3, 2009 Bottle, from Utobeer, 29th July 09. Finally got round to rating this great beer, as I tend to enjoy it too much to bother writing a rate! Rich deep russet colour, slightly hazy, small beige head. Full bodied and ever so flavoursome - lots of strong hops along with a robust caramel malt backbone. dmac (1500), Toms River, New Jersey, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Apr 14, 2007 The perfect beer for my 69th rating. It seems either you love this beer or think it’s overrated, I happen to be in the love this beer camp. I know a lot of people bitch that this company is mostly marketing but they do make some of the best bottles out there and fill em up with really good beers. AB looks great, smells great and tastes great. If you haven’t tried some then go get some. MaiBockAddict (1499), Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA

The citrussy hops explode in the aroma with a big carmel maltiness. Flavor is rich and aggressively hopped with US hops. I love the balance of big hops with the rich carmel maltiness. Has become a standard. Same rating. Initial taste:Sampled at the GBOA @ Lake Harmony. Smelled and tasted as if aged for around a year. Hoppy and sweet aroma. Rich malty flavor balanced with american hops. Reminded me of some of my 2 year old Homebrewed barley wine... 17thfloor (1499), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 5, 2008 Updated: May 15, 2008Pours dark ruby brown with a medium frothy tan head that forms some craters. Sweet vinous, nutty, hoppy aroma with some alcohol and woody notes. First taste is very bitter and dark... deeply roasted/burned malt and extremely bitter hops that aren’t particularly flavorful. Some dark fruits, but mostly like eating burnt caramel on the bottom of the pot. Nice sophisticated palate, fluffy medium/full body, slightly syrupy. Its a well crafted brew, however, I’ve never had a beer packed with so much flavor be so boring.... I’m going to go burn a bag a popcorn so I have a flavor compliment... ok thats harsh =p I wonder how one of these would taste with 2 years of age on it?
