lively. Fun before dinner as tad bitter and dry aftertaste. Citrus and
spice. Cannot finish by myself. Two or three on this bottle. Beer to
have once a month but cannot find in Ontario. Redish brown with foamy
head. Had also on tapp at Blue Tusk and works. HogTownHarry (4026), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada

Poured deep mahogany-brown with a large foamy light brown lasting head - can’t fault it. Quite an aroma too - roast malt, sharp spices, plenty of hops, some earthy yeasty oaky funkiness keeps it from being too sweet. Taste has a strongly resiny hop character overall, but there’s roast malt, ripe fruit - almost like an average belgian strong with the spice muted and the hops ramped up. Mouthfeel is thick, creamy, bitter but a tad flat. A little more bitter than ideal for ME, but a solid beer and I AM WORTHY. Radek Kliber (4000), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada

Thick big creamy head, highly unusual like aged deep cherry compot, spiced with hops. Hints of medium dark malt. Nice, surprisingly shy aroma. Flavour had spicy hoppy notes, hoppy but different than most hoppy beers. Cherry-bitter hops. Bloody good stuff. beerguy101 (3971), Newark, California, USA

WOW This is a very aggressively hoppy ale, very bitter strong hop taste. Extremely bitter finish. Nice balance of malt and hops. An aggressive beer, nice taste but not for everyone. Nor would I want to drink this beer all the time. High alcohol (7.2%). Nice etched bottle. jerc (3954), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Similar body, appearance etc. Malt is far more present than previously, and bitterness is more pleasant and less astringent. Very nicely balanced yet still aggressively hopped, a substantial chewy enjoyable beer. Touch of alcohol and grapefruit in the back end.<P>
Aug 16/04: Dark red brown body with a moderate tan head. Resiny hops in the aroma, hint of caramel and alcohol poiking through. Flavour is fairly bitter with what lots of a quality I attributed to humulin but I am not sure. Not as hoppy and bitter as I expected. Heavy aftertaste seems a bit off at first but is less noticable after a few belts. Nice mouthfeel, a bit thicker than average. This is a bit of an adjustment. I had high hopes for this one and while good it was a bit of a disappointment. I have a second bottle so we shall see how it compares. Thanks to Callie for the pick up in California, and to the Ratebeerian who brought one to Dougs place. 7/3/6/4/15 Rciesla (3880), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA

Fresh sweet pine and hints of caramel with a light citrus and on cask the hop character was delicious. Great beer. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 18, 2003 This brew pours a large head of light brown fine to medium sized bubbles and a cloudy dark brown body. It has a pineapple like aroma. Wow what a plate! It really give you a wake up call on the first sip. Lot's of flavor, strong initial bite, very complex with notes of spice roasted malt, and of course lots of hops. It leaves a stong afterbite too where the alcohol content shows itself. Amber color. Aroma nice mellow pineapple, grapefruit, citrus. Over the palate came heavy malty and hoppy notes on a smooth mix, yet quite heavy feel. Full bodied with an average carbonation and dry texture. Moderated bitter and sweet flavor in balance. Lingering bitter floral and strong malty finish. Excellent beer.
