Dark crimson in color, Full of Sweet malt and chock full of bastardized hops. One of my top beers of all time. The style is tough to determine. My guess would be a perfectly balanced strong ale. Delicious!

That’s it. This was an incredible beer. I had no idea what to expect from an american strong ale, but I was extremely pleasantly surprised. It poured a deep red/brown with beautiful tan lacings clinging to the glass. The scent was that of hops (pine), black licorice, cherries, and raisins. Wonderful aroma. The first taste was bracing in its bitterness, but it all balanced to be an amazing contrast of sweet malts and bitter hops. If it weren’t for the 7.2% abv, I would drink this all day long. I know there is a devilish gargoyle on the bottle, but I’ll be damned if that isn’t Heaven in there. The best beer I’ve ever had. GreatLibations (1447), Last Supper, Arizona, USA

Decent head retention that reduces to a few spattered islands and a full ring of lace. Aromas of citrus rind hops and caramel malts. Full nectar w/ creamy residual effers. Thid brew is very hoppy w/ a perfectly balanced use of mildly sweet malts. Big citrus rind overtones. Not a complex brew flavor wise but exmpliphying an American Strong Ale style very well. This is thee American Strong Ale, California style. The finish is long and enduring w/ ample citrus rind bittering and a lasting malt sweetness. kimcgolf (832), Dacula, Georgia, USA

Pours to a hazy, orange-red color, and a tan head that lingers throughout the entire beer, leaving excellent lacing up and down the glass. Strong aroma of citrusy hops, mostly grapefruit, stays stready throughout. Hoppy bitterness at first is nicely balanced by a hint of malty sweetness at mid-glass. Finish is an excellent, smooth bittersweet. I was looking forward to this beer, and once again was not disappointed by Stone. rybowen (105), Los Angeles 90039, California, USA

One of my favorite beer experiences was walking into a bar in Seattle and finding AB on tap. 1000 miles from home and i can get my favorite stuff. Cool. I can’t believe how much I enjoyed this beer. It seemed extremely bitter at first, but after a few sips I found myself enjoying a seemingly perfect balance of hops and malt in this fine American ale. I enjoyed this one two days ago and I’m still thinking about it. sneakypete73 (4), USA does not count | 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Jul 15, 2007 Best Ale EVER!!! This is good. I drank at the end of the night after sampling some other brews at the shopette. I said, "Oh my gosh, this iz GooooooooD!!" Couldn’t believe the amount of flavors dancing on my tongue. All of them were benevolent. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
