Beautiful dark red color with a malty body to match. This beer attacks your tongue, momentarily twisting it in directions that it is not normally prone to go. What a bastard! This beer’s flavor lasts, a hefty one it is. Always good, never matched! stormking (23), Cuddy, Pennsylvania, USA

(sorry, early in the morning, forgot about the 6-10 buttons)Though I couldn’t drink it every day, this is my favorite beer. First sip led to the comment ’this is the best beer I’ve ever had.’ The beer is an appealing dark amber/brown. Complicated aroma, spiciness, hops and alcohol are apparent from beginning to end. Someone picked up raisins and worchesteshire sauce. There is a lot going on with this beer and at no point is your palate left alone without a flavor to discern. This is an aggressive beer. toddmori99 (2), Bloomington, Illinois, USA does not count | 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Oct 8, 2002 Tried this for the first time last weekend. Very Impressed. I generally am not big into extremely hoppy beers, but was interested by the fruity aroma (reminiscent of pineapple to me and my friends)and tghe rich, dark color. Was not dissappointed as the slight fruitiness was complimented by the sharp hop flavor for an aggressive, but not offensive taste. aftertaste was pleasant, and not overly long-lived. Overall, one of the best beers I have tasted MicroRob (42), Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada

What more can I say, this beer is one fine specimen. Warning: After drinking this beer, some of your standards may seem too boring to drink afterwards. RARELY does a beer come along that is new and original. Something that hasn’t been done yet. This is an aggresive beer, not for pansies. Hoppy and bitter, alcoholic and deep. Color is somewhat amber and non flattering, hiding the truth of the beer. Head holds its own. Buy this beer. I've found that it's flavor varies significantly with temperature. It should not be served as cold as lagers and as Americans are used to having beers served. At that temperature, it's is incredibly hoppy, perhaps overpoweringly so. Yet, as the beer warms, it sweetens in your mouth, filling your tongue with many flavors, both sweet and bitter at the same time. Its complex palate inspires you to drink more, just to figure out what those flavors are... A true tragedy that this beer is not widely available on the east coast! beerhoto (14), Terre haute, Indiana, USA

A full bodied ale with a great taste, can't wait untill my local pub gets the Double Bastard. briellis (2), USA does not count | 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Jun 18, 2004 Great mixture of malt and hops. Quite possibly the best American Strong Ale I’ve had. Really looking forward to experiencing more Stone products.
