Hops & malt balanced very well, with fruity notes coming through traces of smokiness. Tasted a bit strange at first until my palate adjusted and i could hardly put the glass down ’til it was empty. Doesnt get much better than this. Too bad its so hard to get around here. BeerNazi (169), winnetka, California, USA

| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Aug 26, 2003 Rich aroma, almost like a barleywine. Deep red in color with a small, tan head. Great lace. A bevy of flavor. An orgasm of the mouth! Some pine and molasses notes are evident. Roasted malt. A pleasure to drink. As the label says, I was not worthy the first time I drank this (frankly didn't like it). Now that my palate has grown up, there are few beers I would rather drink if given the choice. This beer got me started on trying all kinds of new and interesting beers. Poured into glass from tap, an aggressive ale that will ruin the rest of your beers, making them all seem watery and boring.RESPECT. mike67 (89), , New Jersey, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | May 10, 2009 Tried it on draft in a bar. The beer is deep mahogany in color. Aroma is all hops with a slight hint of malt. When you smell it you’ll know what’s going to hit you: hops, hops, hops. Earthy, woody hops assault the palate right away. Felt like my mouth is burning. Finish is long lasting and all hops. Wow, so good. Aggy360 (115), Anchorage/ Vista,CA, Alaska, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Sep 5, 2009 My 100th rating had to be this great brew. I’ve had this many times but now is the time to rate it.
The pour is a dark reddish copper with a great tan head, with nice lace. The aroma is a beautiful caramel malt blended with just the right amount of piney hops. The taste is out-of-this-world fantastic. There is a great balance of rich malt flavor blended with the citrus/piney hops. There is pleanty of malt base with caramel, crystal, and toffee characters to hold up
to the bitterness of the hops used. A smooth creamy full bodied beer.
I am proud to say I am one of the "few" to love this beer.
