This past time I had a 20 oz pint from the tap. This stuff is frikken awesome. Just flat out fantastic. Dark, sweet, smooth malts of varying fruit and chocolates envelope and sometimes even contain loads of citrusy, fresh hops. A hop lovers delight and the standard of American Strong Ale. onmywaytoaa99 (3), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA does not count | 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Dec 7, 2002 This beer has a beautiful color and a nice thick head. First tasting impression was WOW hops!!! This was quickly followed by a nice fruity and caramel aftertaste. This is a really great beer. Oristo (67), Orinda, California, USA

Somehow, it’s coming off a bit less arrogant and much more sopisticated than expected. Probably my favorite of the Stone big ales so far. Huge hop aroma and flavor balanced with caramel malt flavor. A celebration ale on steroids! I had this on draft Fri night, nice spicey hop flavor that lingered after the intial taste. I will be having this draft again! When you get used to the blatant slap in the face you will actually enjoy this beverage. One of my favorites. hershiser2 (923), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

OOOH that smell... citrusy, grapefruits, oranges, with only a hint of something roasted. This is gonna be a good one!
OOOH thick! and bitter bite, pretty damn strong! Not for the light beer drinkers (but light beer drinkers aren't beer drinkers anyway). Nice fruity taste up front, followed by an EXTREME bitterness that seems to slap your face, saying "You stupid idiot, did you really think I'd be tame?"
One of the best mouthfeels I have ever had... just purely magical in a beer world.
EXTREMELY drinkable... but one a night (too thick and heavy for more than that!)

Color was deeper than usual (more of a deep rust than copper), strong caramel and coffee overtones with superb hoppyness, though not overpowering. Had it on tap at pizzaport san clemente.
