Commercial Description:
This is an aggressive beer. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth.

Love it. Nose of hops, roast, bread. Intense hop bite. Great roasted malt character. This brew defines and or sets a standard for American strong ale. Cheers!

Wow! A dark amber body with a tan head that dissipated quickly. I was smelling a strong pineapple/citrus nose with plenty of hops, but other people disagreed with me about the pineapple. A big, yet balanced, taste finished off one of the best beers I have ever had.

On Tap at Shallo’s. Pours slight reddish brown with foamy beige head. Problem here is the nose is so darn inviting, I can’t wait for the head to fade! Nose is the freshest citrus, grapefruit, piney hops and slight malt. Flavor is the most uniquely excellent blend of fresh, fruity, floral hops and a perfect touch of malt backing. I would call this something more like a Dark Malt DIPA! SO fruity and citrusy and inviting...it is hard to keep in the glass!!! Also hard to believe you have to be an Arrogant Bastard to like this stuff, though I will not excuse a UM alum who doesn’t!!! (Had this many times from bottle...once on tap in Escondido at Stone...finally rating from fresh keg tap)

Aggressive is right! Like punching you in the jaw. Loved it, very bitter but somehow very balanced throughout. I want more. Yes, very complex to where its hard to figure out all the flavors and aromas.

Great, great beer. Clear, burnt amber pour with a finger-and-a-half worth of creamy head. Aroma was a very hearty mix of malt, hop, and a citrusy sweetness. The taste didn’t disappoint either--medium full to full body, quite malty-sweet with a touch of grapefruit and something else I can’t put my finger on when it first hits the tongue, giving way to a malty-bitter finish. If it has any shortcomings, it may be that the aftertaste lingers a touch too long. Other than that, its a strong, bitter, but very drinkable behemoth of a beer. One of my personal favorites.

I am not worthy of this beer...lol. Love the floral hops and the powerful finish. Great creamy head.

Overall: Reminds me of the Oaked Bastard, but I preferred this by a mile, and I liked that one a lot. I’d have it again, and I plan to. One of my go to beers from here on out, since I can get it almost anywhere. Well crafted - a very nice treat. 18 out of 20.

on tap @ four dogs. pours a dark orange-brown color with a 2-finger tan head. aroma is strong caramel and citrus with spruce and fig. flavor is a powerful blend of malt and hops....a blast of caramel with nut, spruce, lemon, grapefruit. the finish is a beautiful, lingering bitterness of grapefruit rind and quinine. seriously the longest finish of any beer, ever. like, 2 or 3 minutes later i’m still tasting it. seriously awesome beer. not for the weak of heart.
