This brew defines and or sets a standard for American strong ale. Cheers! gameface23 (131), Haverhill, Massachusetts, USA

I was smelling a strong pineapple/citrus nose with plenty of hops, but other people disagreed with me about the pineapple. A big, yet balanced, taste finished off one of the best beers I have ever had. awiseman01 (372), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA

Problem here is the nose is so darn inviting, I can’t wait for the head to fade! Nose is the freshest citrus, grapefruit, piney hops and slight malt. Flavor is the most uniquely excellent blend of fresh, fruity, floral hops and a perfect touch of malt backing. I would call this something more like a Dark Malt DIPA! SO fruity and citrusy and inviting...it is hard to keep in the glass!!! Also hard to believe you have to be an Arrogant Bastard to like this stuff, though I will not excuse a UM alum who doesn’t!!!

Loved it, very bitter but somehow very balanced throughout. I want more. Yes, very complex to where its hard to figure out all the flavors and aromas. idbowman82 (62), Painesville, Ohio, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Jan 21, 2008 Great, great beer. Clear, burnt amber pour with a finger-and-a-half worth of creamy head. Aroma was a very hearty mix of malt, hop, and a citrusy sweetness. The taste didn’t disappoint either--medium full to full body, quite malty-sweet with a touch of grapefruit and something else I can’t put my finger on when it first hits the tongue, giving way to a malty-bitter finish. If it has any shortcomings, it may be that the aftertaste lingers a touch too long. Other than that, its a strong, bitter, but very drinkable behemoth of a beer. One of my personal favorites. tomaroth (31), Troy, Michigan, USA

One of my go to beers from here on out, since I can get it almost anywhere. Well crafted - a very nice treat. 18 out of 20. joeymacaroni (228), Wagontown, Pennsylvania, USA
