Flavor is similar except much more complex, changing as it makes it way around the mouth. Very enjoyable and natural flavors. Finish has roasted fruits and alcohol with modest bitterness for an aftertaste. Somewhat over-carbonated in my opinion. This is a very good overall ale. Tybalt (56), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA

I felt that their IPA was a very good beer, but it’s not really my type of beer so I wasn’t too sure I’d like this one. Boy, was I wrong...and thankful I am of that. Don’t hesitate to give this one a shot. Zamboni42 (10), USA

Very complex flavors but with a VERY strong bitter flash of an aftertaste. This is odd, as the taste isn’t all that bitter when in the mouth but comes to the fore after swallowing. Astringent mouth-feel with a vague taste of alcohol. Weird and wonderful, big flavors. brettpace (179), Northridge, California, USA

Mayhem is good don’t get me wrong but this beer is bloody GREAT! 8/10 for flavour because it possibly could do with a tad more bitterness but to be honest this is pretty spot on! Still not as good as Armageddon but.....almost! polomagnifico (535), Saginaw, Michigan, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Apr 27, 2007 22oz bottle, $3.99. Aroma has lots of hopps and malt with some yeast. Notes of hay, grass, horse blankey/leather, apple and grape. Large, light tan, mostly lasting, frothy head that left good lacing. Flat dark red/brown body. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Finish is sweet and even more bitter. Average/long duration. Palate is medium and light oil, flat, and with a light alcoholic feel. Very very good and well deserving of it’s high ratings. TheBeerLover (1019), DC Metro Area, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Feb 14, 2006 Stone’s flagship. Lots of good malt, hops, and alcohol. Pours to a deep amber to red color with a thick white head, that fades, and a good carbonation. The nose has lots of good pale, and sweet, and caramel malt, paired with zesty citrus, and pine hop aroma. The palate is firm with good pale and sweet malt, paired with "plummy" estery fruit, and flavors of candied citron. Finishes with good sweet and caramel malt up front, then ends with a tangy, citrus, hop bite that lingers. Great beer. A perfect coctail, good before, or with a meal. Good beer to sit and relax with. bmurray (20), Hatfield, Pennsylvania, USA

Complex and incredibly well rounded, this beer combines floral with citrus with an twistedly strong hoppy finish. Just like their Ruination, it is incredibly crisp and refreshing.
