MrManning (1634), London, Ontario, Canada Sep 7, 2004 Got this from a friend who went to Japan. Neat can by the way. Aroma is corny, faint hops, and similar to the asahi super dry. Yellow fizzy body, with a highly carbonated looking head. Taste is mild hops, almost like a low carb beer. Aftertaste is ordinary for the style, sorta like a lot of other macros. Drinkable for sure, but noithing special. yeeeeeeeees (5), Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan does not count Apr 13, 2003 Living here in Japan, this is better than many of the low-malters available. Asahi has moved towards a clearer taste that doesn't destroy the front palate like others. Additional barley flakes added may help with this. The nose is very ordinary. Overall, better than the norm. Remember, this is a happoshu (25% malt) and not a normal beer. IslandHaole (1035), Onna-Son, Okinawa-Ken, Japan Feb 25, 2003 This is a brand new Japanese beer.
A typical "yellow fizzy" beer with flaked barley and corn starch adjuncts. The Japanese always like to try new things, be they electronic gadjets or beers. These are all pretty much the same bland beers in new eye-catching packaging with slick campaign ads to capture the young new beer drinker. I was just there yesterday and the commercial blitz is turned up high for this swill.
The worst of the four new Japanese macro's I had this evening. Faint aroma of gym socks. When will they learn?
