Bottle from Asda, brewed by Shepherd Neame. Reddish brown, beige bubbly head. Doughy yeasty aroma. Toffee malt in mouth is a touch over burnt. Some toffee throughout. Finish is dry with a bit of spice. Bit thin in mouth with Sheps distinctive yeast

Aroma is minimal to start with, then gets going with toffee and roasted malts. Body seems a bit thin with again roasted malts, but lacking in depth to make it good.

Bottled, 500ml, pasteurised. Good looking Brown beer with holding off white head. This is a decent bottled ale, malty with a touch of toffee caramel. Enough flavour, with a waft of dark roast and a distant hop. A touch thin maybe, but drinkable all the same.

500ml bottle from Asda. Coppery bronze colour, with a red tinge. Very bready, toasty malt aroma. Dry malt flavour. Very dry, in fact. Flinty, mineral mouthfeel. Nutty nuances. Not bad but doesn’t deliver a knockout punch.

Bottle. Bronze with a small off-white foam. Aromas are light tofffee malts with fruit followed by metallic, nutty hops. Flavours are burnt toffee malts with moreish bitter, metallic, hops. Has a nice dry aftertaste. A little thin in character but has a nice lively sparkle. Decent.

April 2003 A good hoppy beer nicely balanced by a solid slightly fruity malt base. Lots of iron and a touch of vanilla in this one. [2.9]
June 2006 I will occasionally slip a bottle or two of this into the trolley when shopping in Asda. For a force carbonated, pasteurised and filtered beer, this is actually very drinkable and very pleasant. Boiled barley sugar and Irn Bru. Kids stuff. Lovely. [3.2]
September 2007 They are almost giving this away at Asda - just over a quid a bottle. Easy drinking stuff which lacks character, but is pleasant enough and fairly tasty in a simple mild toffee, gentle hop and creamy carbonation way. [2.8]

Bottle, Picked up by friend in Asda 22-09-06. Standard brown beer with busy white head, not much of an aroma. Malty, caramelly tasting beer not one that particularly tickled my tastebuds but fine enough.

Amber beer with an off-white head. The aroma promises malt but the taste was disappointingly watery with just a hint of caramel, and the bitter finish was dominant.
