Bottle 500ml. clear glass.
Clear medium yellow orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, nutty, toffee - fudge, moderate hoppy. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average duration, paper notes. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20090808]

Bottled (thanks to the best harrisoni in the world!). Nice honeyish golden colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is toffee, some grass, fruits and some flowery and wooden notes. Flavour is caramel, some fruity and wooden notes. Very pleasant notes of caramel and wooden notes in the aftertaste.

500ml bottle from Asda, Ashford. Amber with thin off white head. Why isn’t this golden? Bleached hop aroma with some toffee candy sugar. Some hop/malt balance in mouth. Some floral hop on finish. It’s alright. Got Shep’s yeast character. Can’t help but think that it’s a slightly tweaked Goldings Ale. Hop sting is pretty good on end, but only an ok bitter.

Bottled (at Chriso’s). Amber color, steady off-white head. Floral, dry citrus aroma, some toffee - "house aroma" of Shepherd Neame. Toffeish and nutty flavor. A bit fizzy carbonated. Aftertaste is quite quick.

Bottled, pasteurised, 500ml. From Asda, Leamington Spa, Warks. Amber to gold with white head, carbonated. A homogenised mix of flavours, more a caramel malt than normal for a golden ale which dominated the hops. Pasteurisation hasn’t been kind as the hops taste slightly boiled and the citrus notes have all but disappeared, but its ok as a general beer.

Dark golden with a small white head. Aroma of citrus and caramel with diacetyl. Sweet and thin caramel flavour with a little lemon peel and bitterness in the finish.

500ml bottle from Asda. It’s not golden, but it is dusty. There’s a fair awareness of the hop dust in this - but, being pellets, the hops are not fragrant. Being pasteurised the stale bitter dust ends up tasting of dusty cardboard. It’s rather like a Czech lager - a pasteurised beer with little malt, but plenty of cardboard bitterness. Not a lot to recommend it, but it’s not THAT ugly either.

Bottle picked up at Asda, Peterborough, Camb’s 22-01-09 Pours amber (not really golden?) Aroma is sweet but there is also a little ashtray as weel. Taste is sweet, bit malty its ok and slightly better than anticipated but that’s not really a ringing endorsement, just totted up my score and surprised to see I’ve given it 3.1 must be feeling generous.
