Looks like Guinness with a slightly smaller head that leaves plenty of lacing. Light, malty aroma. Roasted malty taste with a hint of chocolate and nuts but not really the strength of flavour you would hope for/expect from a porter.

Bottle. A rather handsome and extremely deep ruby coloured porter with a fairly small but lasting beige head. This head also leaves an attractive lacing. Dark fruits and roasted coffee dominate the nose with hints of dark chocolate. Dry palate texture with toasted malts as well as a slight chocolatey sweetness. The finish is a tad short, but is nicely dry and bitter. A bit too light for me, considering this is a porter but not bad at all.

Dark, dark ribena like ruby pouring with lacing dark brown head. aroma is toffee malty with some black cherry. This changes personality on the palate with dark roasted malt with spicy cumin like hops that dont last very long. really let down by a lack of malt depth and watery mouthfeel.

Pours a very dark ruby colour with a lively off white tan head. I was not getting much aroma wise but in the mouth there is some malt with some burnt flavours and some bitterness but I found it very underwhelming, pretty flat in flavour and no depth to it at all.

Deep deep dark ruby colour. Rich full coffee/toffee caramel.Roasted malt comes through. Lovely rich brown head.. Lovely . Agood starter for a night on the ale!

God this was awful! Having just had a Shepherd Neame 1698, I was looking forward to trying this one, but I wish I hadn’t bothered. Pours a dark ruby colour with a thin tan head. The aroma was pretty dull. The taste was nothing like a good Porter should be. All I could pick up was an exceptionally strong metallic taste, which ruined any chance of detecting other flavours. For a Porter, I found it to be thin and watery. This was not an enjoyable experience.

Dark brown/red, thin off white head, sweet malt, bit fizzy. wattery then bitter roast with burnt bitter linger ...2.6
Tk2 ... Deep black ... short lived foam head ... sweet roast malts ...toffee malts little buttery little roast... 3.2

pours dark from the bottle, foamy tan head. half-hearted attempt at a porter ends up being more similar to a mann’s. hints of chocolate and cherry. malt flavour. ashy texture with metallic edge was tasting too much alcohol at first but it balanced out into a decent, if underwhelming beer.
