Very dark brown, light tan head. Flavor is sweet malt. Chalky far roast. Unique. A bit of smoke. Loads of chocolate malt in the finish. Hints of coffee and caramel. Nice wooded hop character. Rich deep roasted malt nose. Nice caramelized sugar aroma.

Appearance: Dark brown with some garnet highlights and a creamy, tan head. Decent lacing.
Aroma: Roasted coffee notes with light caramel notes in the background.
Taste: Roasted malt, husk, coffee, slight fruitiness and some nuttiness. Perhaps a bit over roasted.
Palate: Medium-low carbonation with a medium mouthfeel and a medium-short, roasty finish.
Overall: This certainly isn’t taking the place of my favorit porters, but it isn’t terrible either.
Rebuy: Probably not. italianjohn (382), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 12, 2009 Bomber. Poured cola brown with a huge, creamy cap of khaki head, which also rolled up and out of the bottle. The aroma picked up dusty, drier chocolate notes and toasty black malts, but there was some cardboard and dank potential infection that got in the way. The flavor had more genero-dark malts than chocolate, with some touches of choc and molasses on the edges.. mild sourness again hinted at infection, and the same dark, dank stuff from the nose was in here.. roasty chocolate and molasses with a hint of cardboard on the finish. Medium-bodied and too carbonated on the palate.. this may be in the early-ish stages of infection. darn1207 (582), Tallahassee, Florida, USA

Poor body detracts, but good flavor profile shows promise. shp555 (1690), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
