The appearance is a dark brown to black color. The aroma contains some coffee beans, chocolate, and a bit of smokiness. The flavor leans toward the bitter side with hints of chocolate, stale coffee, and a very smokey finish. The palate is rather thin. Overall not bad but could use a little something else. heemer77 (4312), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 6, 2009 Tap. The body was dark brown with some ruby at the edges. A khaki head on top. The aroma was nutty with some coffee. The taste was lightly roasted coffee with some pecans. A nice everyday porter, but not special. biznizness (948), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 29, 2009 I’m doing my ratings from Asheville this weekend a bit backwards, starting with the growler I took home courtesy of Aaron. Tasty porter with a nice roasty finish, a little thin but that’s OK for the style. Enjoyed it. cmillward (434), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 24, 2009 Draft @ the brewery. Pours dark brown/black letting some light through, a small tan head. Nose of chocolate, coffee, roast, some caramel. The body is a little thin, like my impression of a British porter. Chocolate, roast, some fruit and caramel, semi-sweet, some light bitterness to close. Uglyradio (775), Greenville, South Carolina, USA

Coffee aroma with some subdued chocolate. Medium body and carbonation, but the mouthfeel is a little thin. Some burnt sugar flavors and a malt based bitterness that is accentuated by a hoppy dryness in the finish. Drinkable, but kind of one dimensional. j12601 (1311), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA

Pours a deep black with a light tan head. Notes of smoke, roast, and some esters. Nice thick body on this one, though it thins out a bit as it warms. Nice roast. Simple crystal aroma- toasted and one dimensional. Light feel- thinish. Nice porter flavor- chocolaty, nutty, dark/roasted crystal malt with mild husky notes. A simple but solid porter.
