Thre’s not a lot of aroma, but this has a good flavor. Nice chocolate, the suggestion of char and an unexpected fresh c hop character. Tasty.

After having the Marz Zen, I was pretty iffy about trying other Asheville products, but I figured I’d might as well. Pour was a dark brown. Aroma was a bit nutty, but not much. Flavor was interesting. Smooth and nuttty. Good malt flavor. Much more like a brown ale than a porter. Pretty good. Glad I gave them another shot at least.

This porter pours a medium black color from the tap at the brewpub. Small to medium sized beige foamy head. The aroma is coffee, chocolate and roasted malts. A medium bodied porter. The malts are chocolate and coffee. The hops are earthy. Nice balance. Good carbonation. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

it pours a dark brown colour, with a pretty big head that continued to overflow. once it settled down, it had a rich deep coffe aroma and a clean sweet malted finish.

Draft at Raleigh WBF. Creamy head over a medium dark pour. Roast, vanilla on the nose. Malt, too. A little thin, but nice flavors.

Draught at the WBF in Raleigh. Appearance is dark brown, small tan head. Roasty aroma with chocolate, coffee. Flavor is similar, with a roasted malt bittter finish.

Growler from Joseph Redner, Jr. Dark brown body with a smallish tan head. Some retention and only drip lacing. Nose is very chalky, with backing notes of fudge, roasted beans, licorice and some vanilla hints. Flavor is chocolate, roasted dark malts, coffee beans, fudge and vanilla bean. Medium bodied, slightly chewy. Finish is lengthy, fudgey chocolate, coffee, vanilla and licorice round out the package. Ninjas are awesome. This beer isn’t awesome, but it’s drinkable and overall pretty decent.

This is the sixth growler Degarth opened out of seven he brought back from his trip. Thanks buddy. Pours dark brown with amber edges and thin tan head. The aroma is mild with hints of burnt malts, faint chocolate malts and maybe some dark fruity estery notes. The flavor is mildly burnt to start with a hint of roasty malts. More burnt and chocolate malts well up midway along with some vanilla. The burnt malts grow in strength into the finish along with some tasty malt roastiness.
