Very dark brown, light tan head. Flavor is sweet malt. Chalky far roast. Unique. A bit of smoke. Loads of chocolate malt in the finish. Hints of coffee and caramel. Nice wooded hop character. Rich deep roasted malt nose. Nice caramelized sugar aroma.

Big hops on the nose, highly roasted coffee, and dark chocolate. Dark chocolate taste, moderate coffee, a good amount of pine that works fairly well. Medium bodied and creamy, I thought this was pretty good. Think a lighter Black Sun Stout. walter (359), Staunton, Virginia, USA

Very dark, almost black color with a tan head. Lots of roasted aromas on the nose. Medium body with a generally rounded sweet roasted malt flavor, but a good deal of bitterness toward the end. Finishes dry and almost chalky, much like a very dark chocolate. I was surprised to read the number of "watery" comments given this beer-- this was not my experience at all. Perhaps some kinks have been worked out. It was hot as hell the day I had this, so perhaps any wateriness in the beer was welcome relief to my dehydrated body. Kidding aside, I found this to be an impressive brew. ucusty (1908), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA
