Elwood (647), Leesburg, Virginia, USA Aug 31, 2009 Serving: Draft.
Appearance: Hazy, deep amber with a froathy, white head. Left great lacing.
Aroma: Very light nose that on first inspection makes me think this is dry hopped. A little earthy grass note along with light caramel and cracker notes from the malt.
Taste: Caramel, bready, some earthiness, and a mild hop bitterness that is a little floral and grassy. Nothing truly amazing here.
Palate: Medium-low carbonation with a medium mouthfeel. Short finish.
Overall: Okay, but not all that memorable.
Rebuy: Nah. shp555 (1677), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jul 16, 2009 Pours a deep copper color with an off white head. Aroma is malty, caramel, crystal malts, biscuit, and grassy floral hops. Flavor is strong crystal malts, toast, some biscuit, and bitter grassy finish. darn1207 (528), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Jul 13, 2009 from a tap sampler at the coxe ave location: copper pour with thin white head. aroma of bread caramel and hops. toasty toffee and vanilla taste. swear I tasted some cinnamon in there. pretty good. biznizness (930), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA Jun 29, 2009 Draft at the downtown location. Another pretty tasty but not particularly memorable brew. At least these styles go well with pizza, as compared to something huge that would overwhelm. cmillward (418), Orlando, Florida, USA Jun 20, 2009 Draft @ the brewery. Pours a dark amber with an off-white head. Grainy, caramel aroma with moderate citrus hops. More of the same in flavor, bready, slightly nutty, mild sweetness, caramel and a fairly bitter backbone and finish. Med mouthfeel, nice carbonation. dkachur (2313), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Mar 6, 2009 Sampled on draft at the brewpub. Pours a light caramel brown color with a small head. Wasn’t a real big fan of this one. beerguy101 (3861), Newark, California, USA Jun 3, 2008 This ESB pours a medium copper color from the tap at the brewpub. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is bready and malty, touch of hops. A medium bodied ESB. The malts are caramel and sweet. The hops are earthy and floral, but kind of subdued. Could use a little more bitterness. Nice carbonation. Good balance. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
