| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 17, 2007 Draft at APBC. Cloudy orange pour with a white head that has some yellow tint to it. Citrus hops dominate the aroma, leading other scents of sweet malt, pine needles, grapefruit, peach and apricot. Flavor is unbalanced and overly acidic, proving a difficult quaff. Palate is rough and unrefined. Despite all this, it is a tasty IPA, but I wonder how much of my favoritism here can be attributed to the fresh keg and the awesome vibe at the brewpub. just a little too much bite on this for me. I would like to retry this in the future. 19641948 (491), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 4, 2006 From notes 2/22/05:
Pours a hazy golden copper, with more emphasis on the "golden", that seems to be illuminated from within. Aromas of citrusy hops and juicy goodness. Malt notes are mostly lost in the scent, this one is all hoppiness to the nose. Flavors exhibit a slight malt backbone, but this is quickly annihilated by a flurry of hops. Cascadey hop presence (or is it omnipresence?) coats your tongue and shrivels your tastebuds. Not as aggressive to ruin your palate for the night, but sturdy enough to give it a good once-over. A sweet, almost Juicy Fruit note peeks through. Modest mouthfeel. Very drinkable for the hophead GeneralGao (3071), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 30, 2006 Draught at the brewpub. Clear dark golden color with thin white head. Citrusy grapefruit hop nose and flavor. Dry with a bitter hop finish. Not as good as the Red Light IPA.
