Pours a hazy golden copper, with more emphasis on the "golden", that seems to be illuminated from within. Aromas of citrusy hops and juicy goodness. Malt notes are mostly lost in the scent, this one is all hoppiness to the nose. Flavors exhibit a slight malt backbone, but this is quickly annihilated by a flurry of hops. Cascadey hop presence (or is it omnipresence?) coats your tongue and shrivels your tastebuds. Not as aggressive to ruin your palate for the night, but sturdy enough to give it a good once-over. A sweet, almost Juicy Fruit note peeks through. Modest mouthfeel. Very drinkable for the hophead Zaprozdower (42), Boone, North Carolina, USA

Golden color, white head. Hoppy aroma, hint of citrus. Flavor is a rich pale malt. Finishes with a bold resin. Nicely hopped. Bitterness. Smooth. This beer is what Iook for in an IPA.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 11, 2005 Got a chance to talk to the brewer of this one (Doug Rieley) for a short time. This was the stand out for me (as far as IPA’s went at the Southern Brewers festival). Draft sample. Poured a very nice looking pale orange with a moderately sized frothy head. Really great looking brew. The aroma was spicy with citrus hops and a bit of a sweet malt aroma. Flavor had spicy hops with orange peal bitter finish. Crisp, but it lacked some of the backbone I expected from the aroma. Overall, a very nice and refreshing brew. wilkie (1193), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
