bhensonb (2687), Woodland, California, USA Dec 19, 2007 Draft at the brewpub. Malty aroma. Deep amber color with a yellowish beige head. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is grapefruit over caramel. Seems more towards an IPA. Finish is nicely bitter. Good drink. However, the descriptions of others makes me wonder whether the bar staff passed me the wrong drink. Oakes (6779), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jul 25, 2007 Dull dark burgundy colour. Attractive aroma - rich dark muscovado and demerara sugars. Soft body matches these rich sugars, then a firm alcoholic finish kicks in...nice! More a winter beer, but I can see this being brilliant in the rain. Dartagnan (9), USA does not count Jul 13, 2007 Definitely one of the best brews the pub has on tap. Smooth and crisp Strong Ale. Everything you’d expect from a Strong Ale. AstoriaJerry (8), Astoria, Oregon, USA does not count Aug 15, 2006 Stone Cold boasts a peculiar flavor with malt emphasis that touches upon licorice and cola nut. It would appear to be derived from brown ale ancestry though it is nearly black in color. The finish is bitter and perplexed.
Ultimately Stone Cold is a bit too sweet for my tastes. It is still easy to appreciate but can’t compare to Buoy 8 for bold, expressive character. epador (4), USA does not count May 27, 2006 It pisses me off when they’re out! Smooth and strong, my favorite at this pub.
