Even the Amstel Light does not compare to this. THIS tastes like a true microbrew. You wont even know it is a light. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 5, 2000 This is the absolute BEST light beer that I have ever tasted. I would love to give it top marks, but, after all, it is a light. It is better than many non-light beers that I have tasted. This beer has flavor people! (and 98 calories to boot!) | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 3, 2004 Dark yellow with average head size and retention. Aroma is primarily malts, with hop undertones. Taste, to me, is almost all hops. Maybe it's the brewing method throwing me off here though. Reminds me of a tarrapin rye ale which is also an atlanta local brew. Finish was fresh albeit a tad sticky. Very smooth, drinkable brew. I must say I am impressed. This beer just knocked my usual light beer, sam adams, out of rotation. And it's cheap... well, at least in atlanta. This beer couldn't hold a candle to say a rogue, fullers, or sam smith, but as far as light beers go, it's top notch. It's actually an excellent light beer, which is almost an oxymoron. High marks for that... it's only fair. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA

Buttery gold colored beer with a bigger than life head! Great lacing. Simply no aroma as far as I can detect. A little more malt body than mega light beers. Flavor of all malt and no burning side adjuncts. Nice hop residual flavor on the tongue when you are done. I suppose that if I had known about the hot rock deal, I would have expected this ale to be even darker from the caramelization. In terms of calories, this is most likely NOT a light beer. In my world however, the term "light beer" should be used to describe this style. 21iceman40 (1731), vienna, West Virginia, USA

This one was a dull yellow color. Had a bit of lemon in the aroma and body at that. I could drink these all day, but at 3.8 percent, what is the point. TheBeerCollector (548), Woodstock, Georgia, USA
