Commercial Description:
A light fruit ale, made with Maine wild blueberries. As opposed to many of the sweeter fruit beers on the market, our addition of fresh Maine wild blueberries in this light ale yields a subtle blueberry aroma, without the sweet aftertaste. A mixture of the following Mutton malts, pale, crystal, and Munich, are combined with wheat to give this ale its lighter body, and we only use minimal amounts of Target and Willamette hops.

12 oz. Bottle. It pours a clear light copper with a white head and soapy lacing. The aroma has some malt and caramelized sugar notes to it. The flavor has malt, caramelized sugar with slight notes of blueberry in the finis. Not overdone at all. Very balanced and drinkable beer.

Draft. The aroma was of dry lager and blueberries. The flavor was actually decent because the blueberries weren’t overpowering. Good for the style.

Draft. Aroma was pretty good; with blueberry and malt. Flavor was good with malt and a splash of blueberry. Actually enjoyed it for the style; Not too sweet and some mild hop presence.

Only a faint blueberry aroma and flavor which is disappointing. More would be much better. Sort of a weak body too. Totally average beer but drinkable and somewhat fun. Might occasionally order it on draught if it were available here but it wouldn’t go into the regular rotation.

Looks like a copper colored beer night. Smaller, but stable off-white head. Interesting odors with wild blueberries and white pepper. A real curry sort od nose. Dull berry flavors with just a hint of white toast. A white pepper linger wanders about. An odd spice fruit brew.

Bottle. Pours a lively but thin amber with an aroma of blueberry syrup. Flavor is much too hoppy; the blueberry seems to be more of an afterthought or weird coincidence arising from something in the brewing process. Thin and boring mouthfeel. Too heavy on the hops and too light on the blueberry.

Not as fruity as I was afraid I’d discover, this beer was refreshingly light in the blueberry department. Neither a hater nor a fan of blueberry itself, I found this ale to be quite refreshing and good on a summery afternoon. Definitely drinkable.

This beer is an exercise in dutiful restraint and good planning, or so it would seem. Deep orange body is slightly cloudy, clearing quickly. A tall white head fades fast, leaving but a hint of lacing. Aromas of blueberries, earthy and only semi-sweet, spring outward. Notes of caramel malt, fruit basket, dough all in light to moderate quantity. Flavor is nearly all blueberry, though it’s light and refreshing. A touch of bitterness encompasses the sweet but crisp malt. Finishes soft and long, blueberry pancake batter lingering on. Palate is light and without a hint of syrup, a surprise. Light and lively, even refreshing. Apparently, Maine blueberries are well suited for brewing escapades. Not bad at all, a good take on a typically unstimulating style. The base beer appears to be quality as well.
