| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 13, 2008 Picked up this bottle in Michigan and drank it back home in Ireland.
Pours an almost cola color into the glass with an off-white 2 finger head that diminishes to a constant coating as the beer goes down.
Not too strong of aromas really-a bit malty, nutty, and nuttiness
The flavors didnt carry through as much as the smells. The beer is mostly dominated by a light maltiness, but not really overwhelming. Some roasted hints suggest something like a porter, but very little tastes other than that.
The beer is lightly carbonated it seems and goes down fairly light; not really exciting here.
I feel could drink more than one of these in a session, although I would probably be tempted to try something else first. I have another beer from this brewery so I’ll try that next!

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Dec 27, 2007 A very frothy beer. The head is large and thick. The aroma is earthen (dirt/rock/chalk). The taste is like vegetable (celery). The ale is a dark ale, almost black in color. It’s different at best. Foxbush (462), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Dec 26, 2007 This is my first Bar Harbor beer. It is the second of the 2007 Christmas beers. This ale had a smallish head with a beautiful dark amber color. This smooth tasting ale did not have any distinctive flavors . Balanced malt and hops were evident in this bottle version. I agree I would to try this ale from the tap. surffisher (196), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 23, 2007 Pours cola colored with minimal head and a funky toasty/fruity aroma; which combines to remind me of epoxy resin. Some sweet caramel aromas emerge as it warms. Flavor is malty and toasty with some nuttiness, some floral hoppiness and significant bitterness throughout including the finish. The funk on the aroma comes through in the aftertaste as well. Medium light body and reasonably smooth. Moderate carbonation. As it is, a pretty basic sessionable brown, with some interesting flavors that didn’t quite come together for me. I think I’d enjoy this one fresh on tap more than the bottle I sampled. scoobyluv (486), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA
