| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 22, 2005 Amber-brown body, medium off-white head. Tangy cerealy, bready, toasty aroma with earthy hops notes. Nutty, toasty body, cerealy, with earthy hops and a long, slightly bitter finish. A pretty solid brown ale, a bit light for the style, but still quaffable and appropriate. XO (52), New Jersey, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 16, 2005 Poured from a bottle a nice red color with a fairly thin tan head. Nicely balanced, hoppy but not too bitter, with a bit of maltiness. I enjoyed this on. FROTHINGSLOSH (2031), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 9, 2005 Updated: Jun 28, 2006I have had this beer a couple of times. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer pours a ruby-mahogany color with a very large tan head. The aroma is sweet and tangy with a hint of orange. The flavor is tangy and has a decent dark malty presence and a chocolate undertone. The finish is a bit on the bitter side. scraff (1946), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 2, 2005 Dark brown, thin white head. Nose was very light with touches of coffee, chocolate, cherry, and toasted malts. Flavor is practically mirrored here with no one single characteristic standing out. Light bodied and watery, light carbonation, malty, soft dark fruity finish. Skip it...

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Oct 31, 2005 This is a great ale, it could become a real classic with me. Perfect body, great balance between malt and hops, finishes with delightful cleanness (is that a word?). lamas (726), Adams Morgan, Washington DC, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Oct 21, 2005 Bottle. A clear mahogany pour with a thin light-tan head. Subtle hints of chocolate, coffee, cocoa, caramel, nuts and malts in the aroma. My girlfriend says it smells like soy sauce. Thin, watery body. Hints of caramel and cocoa in the malty body. Moderately dry finish. Not something I’d want to drink again. AlchemistZ (493), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 12, 2005 Red in color with just a trace of orange with a decently formed, light tan head. Aroma shows a lot of roast character, some caramel, and, unfortunately, a band-aid character. Flavor is cocoa powder, overly toasted grain flavor, a floral/ spicy hop reminiscent of a German varietal, milk fat, and then that band-aid character creeps in as it warms. Overall, this is a dry, malt-accented ale. By the name "Real Ale" I was assuming an English-style bitter or something in that range. This is not very good. Pours dark amber with a small off-white head. aroma of light smoke, swee water, carmel malts, chocolate and light grain husks. flavors are very husky with light chocolate and a touch of smoke. body is slightly thin but again, its a brown ale. Not bad.
