Commercial Description:
A good, clean nutbrown ale with a malty body. This is our most popular ale due to its smooth and malty flavor. We use a mixture of pale, crystal and black malts in this one, and our primary hop is Target, though we also add some Whitbread Goldings Variation as well. The Real Ale is best fresh, so fresh in fact, that it's great right out of the bright tank.

Pours mahogany into a shaker. Offwhite head with good retention leaves sheet lacing as it slowly recedes. Smoked caramel aromas. Sweet smoked malt upfront becoming sweet and thin and onto a sour finish.

Thanks to beechbum for this. Definitely past its prime. Light peat, nut, and leather on the nose. thin mouth-feel and over-carbonated. Roast, and sweet malts

I thought that this ale was great. It looked much darker then it tasted. It was very clean, refreshing and tasty. It was one of the best brown ales that i have tasted in a long time. It was hopped but defiantly not overhopped.i would highly recommend this brew

12oz bottle, purchased at the brewery. Pours brown-amber, with a small layer of off-white bubbles. Enticing aroma, with toasted malt and notes of cocoa, hazelnuts and caramel. Fairly thin bodied. Roasted malt is the primary flavor, with some cocoa, grain, coffee, and hops coming in towards the finish. Overall, the flavor is a bit of a letdown after the appealing aroma, but its still satisfying and very drinkable.

Pours a ruby brown with a thin tan head. The nose is nutty, sweet, some toffee, earthy. The flavor was lightly sweet, nutty, earthy, some anise, crisp. Doesn’t taste or smell bad by any means. Very drinkable and sessionable. I would register this as underwhelming as opposed to bad.

This isn’t what I would consider a brown ale but very different and tasty. Aroma was pretty weak. Light caramel malt and ginger. Pour was a nice medium brown with a 3 finger near tan head. Taste was very different. I tasted ginger, light fruit and just a hint of malt. I was suprised to see this classified as a brown ale. The carbonation is strong and makes the finish crisp and dry. Nice.

Tap at Barcade. Light roasty, eggplant, peanut, spoiled milk aroma. Ugly pour, little head. Flavor is chewy and milk with a mild fuggles finish. Overall very dull.

(Bottle). Deep red brown color, light tan head. Malty aroma, as is the taste, with a bit of caramel and coffee. An ok brown ale.
