Smells clean and balanced. Good entry, thin finish. Sweet end of spectrum with interesting malt character. Some caramel, nougat. Finish vanishes soon with chalk and slight sourness. Soft, slightly chewy mouthfeel. Woodsy. Slight band aid phenols but not bad. afireinside96 (839), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA

Smells dusty and chalky. with some toast character. Thin body, with a bitter astringent flavor, though no real "flavors" to speak of. Really not good. Gmoney (258), ManchVegas, New Hampshire, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 11, 2008 Pours mahogany into the glass, with a soda-esque head that diminishes to nothing. Sweet, airy malt bouquet. The flavors are of sour grains and nuts, with a fizzy carbonated finish. Some lingering diacetyl butter develops in the aftereffects. Nothing special, with the mouthfeel a bit light and unsubstantial. For a brown ale, this isn’t the best out there, and not extremely complex. It’s "ok", and i don’t hate it, but I certainly was looking forward to a little more. pumpmaster (483), Pembroke Pines, Florida, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 5, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear deep amber with orange hues and a small diminishing creamy white head. Aroma’s sweet, a touch sugary with lightly toasted malt and some dark fruit. Flavour, which starts quite muted and a bit watery, follows the aroma. Average bodied. Not much going on here, there’s little aroma or flavour, making this just ’alright’. TheBeerBaron (219), Florida, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 3/10 | 4/5 | 7/20 | May 25, 2008 Rich brown color. Its extra large foamy head is unusual for an english ale. Lots of bubbles coming through the dark beer. Strong caramel malt aroma with toffee like hints. A lack of hops aroma leaves the smell musty. I don’t know where it eminates but this ale is super bitter, an aspirin type of bitter that then turns to salty water taste in the mouth. Its not what I expect and not what I enjoy. kassner (471), Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA

Reddish brown, not much head or lacing, very earthy, just a hint of butter, almost a bit too much carbonation . Light on the palate with a sweet finish.
