Commercial Description:
Akin to a barley wine, we suggest this ale as an after dinner drink. It has a truly unique & sophisticated flavor due to the use of wildflower honey as the catalyst for the production of alcohol. We simply use pale malt and a very small amount of Target hops in this Belgian style ale. The bulk of the body, color and sweetness come from the 2,000 lbs. of honey we add to the boil. The Brother is cellared for up to a year before it is bottled, which helps to marry the flavors and create the complex palate in this Bragget.

I was shooting to be the 100th rater but got lazy and TURD just snuck in front (damn you Sam, damn you to hell). No date on the bottle, this is the latest batch as far as I know, so either late 06 or early 07. Pours with absolutely no head and just a semicircle hairline lacing. Color is dark amber, slightly red/orange. Clear beer the bends light all funny through it. Looks dead with no visible carbonation. Aroma, first hits you with strong sweet tropical fruits. After that is a wave of strong sweet alcohol. Basically, aroma is strong sweet alcoholic honey which turns out ala beer-brandy. Taste is not as alcoholic as the aroma suggest. Starts with light tropical fruits and ends with slight alcoholic cherry. No bitterness at all. Its actually pretty light bodied and not a sipper. Not syrupy and way different then most brews at this strength. This is a really nice Bragget which evidently contains a lot of honey in it (as opposed to some other Braggets). 22oz bottle, Rodenbach Grand Cru smaller tulip glass.

Bottle picked up by my parents during their recent trip to Maine. Pours copper with a little tan ring of lace. Aroma is honey, alcohol, sweet malts. Flavor is hearty with more honey, brown sugar, and belgain-like spices. Mouthfeel is moderate for a mead--not as thick as I was expecting it to be.

Sample @ Brewery. Porus honey amber with a ring. Heavy Alc nose with a bit of honey. Taste is sweet and strong and meady, not so impressed. maybe better with age.

muddy brown, whispy beige head, candy sweet carmel malt aroma with essence of rich fruits and brown sugar, hint of alcohol in the aroma, thick body that eventually thins out a bit, rich malt flavor, great fruity character including ripe figs, well tempered honey sweetness that has more of a brown sugar than a honey quality, ends up being a very rich ale with the brown sugar flavor and tempered sweetness, still some alcohol heat

This is interesting stuff. I’ve never had a Bragget before. Reddish brown color with a small white head. It looks extremely thick as it pours. Some brown sugar aroma along with plum. This one tastes every bit as strong as it is but that doesn’t mean that I can’t taste some cherry, brown sugar, and caramel. This is beer upfront but the semi-harsh honey alcohol finish is all mead. I ain’t mad at this one at all.

Crystal clear oranged out amber with a loose white head, disappearing rapidly. A musky tang overwhelms somewhere between ass crack and feet. Some malt sweetness with toast. A bit of a spiced fruit twang too. This just smells a touch infected. A little alcohol. Solid body, creamy with a bit of viscosity. More CO2 than the style calls for in general. The musk is less evident in the flavor. Fruit alcohol and some malty notes. More alcohol and fruit though. A bit of dry honey. Alcoholic finish.

Bu à la brasserie, en fut (échantillon). Ambrèe thé g;acé, petit collet. Arome de miel malté, bien sucré et réchauffant. Goût réchauffant sur le coup, suivi par du miel mi-sucré, quelque notes d’houblons.
