Aroma of alcohol, honey, caramel, and grain. The flavor is sweet upfront, caramel, fruit, honey, and a big alcohol presence. Sticky body, with decent mouthfeel. | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 6, 2007 Dark red pour with almost no head. Nothing like a barley wine. A strange brew that I can’t say I enjoyed.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 13, 2007 Friend Paul brought this back from his coastal vacation. Poured a bright golden, very clear, short white head, no lacing. First aroma is some alcohol then a really nice honey sweetness with apple and cinnamon. Palate was medium, but fizzy - thought it would have been smoother. Plenty of honey and caramel in the flavor, along with hints of alcohol and herbs. kmweaver (2471), Sebastopol, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 7, 2007 22oz bottle. Pours a hazy, golden-amber color; white head with web-like lacing. Dense, honey and floral aroma. Light carbonation. Very dense, sugary and slightly plasticy mouthfeel; alcohol shows itself, with a one-dimensional honey character; astringent and unremarkable. Lengthy, syrupy and honey finish. porterhouse (1158), Alna, Maine, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 26, 2007 (22 oz. bottle (presumably ’06 vintage) from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/maine/portland/ target=blank>Downeast Beverage Co., cellared for 1 yr. after purchase) Just not much going on...Pours slightly hazy burnt orange with a thin biege head that melts away quickly to edges. Looks much like a barleywine or big IPA. Aroma, while rather reserved, does have some complexity: notes of honey, rosewater, vanilla, rock candy malt sweetness, light pine. This beer poured surprisingly thin-looking and it feels quite thin as well. It is fairly smooth and a little sticky. Thin weepy lacing. Flavor is moderately sweet, some honey and light rock candy with a bit of pine - nothing really stood out and it just seemed to lack much character or depth. Obvious alchohol presence but not overpowering. A bit of caramel flavor emerges at room temp. After a promising aroma the bottom just seemed to fall out flavor-wise - really not left with much. This beer is somewhat similar style-wise to Portsmouth Killer B (but not as good). Had a small sample of Brother Adams at the brewery last summer and it seemed almost overbearingly hot and sweet - this cellared bottle was not like that however. bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 26, 2007 Hmmm not sure, different then all the meads i have had before. Poured a dark orange color with good head. Aroma was of honey and grains. Flavor was very Belgian like some light fruits, sweet. Good not sure if this one even goes in a style of beers, but good though. Aroma was strong with honey and grain. Tastes much the same w/ hints of wine-like fruitiness. Palate is sweet with more grain and honey. I have another bottle cellaring that i intend to break into after thanksgiving this year. eaglefan538 (2383), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 20, 2007 Poured an orangey-golden color, decent initial head, frothy. The lacing was even ok. The aroma was honey, barley, grainy. The flavor was a golden belgian base (pears, cookies, apples, white grapes) along with the mead honeyness, somewhat of a sweet slant on the mead-Belgian style. Mouthfeel was carbonated, moderately to heavily bodied. A neat concoction, but when all is said and done, I’d probably rather have either a belgian or a mead, not a blend.
