Commercial Description:
A superb porter, hearty & dark. This one is a staff favorite, made with pale, crystal, Munich, chocolate, and black malts. The darker malts give Coal its color and rich flavor. We use Target and Willamette hops to yield a very subtle hop flavor in this porter. We cellar this beer for close to six months before releasing it on the thirsty throngs of fans.

A very nice porter! This is what I envision a porter to be like, actually. Thick, creamy, black, and smooth. Very nice coffee flavor throughout. Never overpowers, and hides the alcohol well. Very dark and enjoyable. Lots of dark malt in this one. A lot going on here for a porter, but all dark and delicious. Should be higher than a 74!

Pours opaque with tall soapy tan head. Lasts a long time and leaves much lacing. Much roast and hops. A bit astringent, nicely bitter. Not as sweet as expected. An OK porter, but I don’t really want another.

Pours a very dark almost black color with a dark beige head. Sweet roasty aroma. Has a very rich coffee flavor with nice mouthfeel. This is a very nice porter.

Black and had a thick tan head. Thick and creamy with a rich cocoa chocolate bouquet, with aromas of roasted malt. Taste is slightly hoppy with a riche coffee taste and a nice aftertaste.

This is really nice! Black like used motor oil. Decent head and lacing. Flavor has a nice roasted malt and coffee bitterness. Very clean finishing. I’m hooked!

12 oz bottle thanks to Suttree. Nice roasty aromas off this black pour with a smallish head. Some chocolate mixed into the nose as well. Flavor was burnt black patent malts and some touches of smoke. Pretty good stuff.

Was an ok porter....poured a nice very dark black ruby color with medium tan head.....Aroma of dark roasted malts, almost seemed like an expresso flavor as well. Flavor was nice but too much hoppy bitterness that I thought overpowered the sweet malty flavor....They seem to be very fresh hops which is good, but I think the use of them was bad....but it was still a pretty decient porter.....

Nearly black in color with a decent brown head. Nice aroma of Chocolate, coffee, and brown sugar. Palate is slightly thin, but not bad. The flavor is comprised of the sweetness of fruit and chocolate and the bitterness of coffee and bakers chocolate. Finishes smooth. A nice porter.
