Commercial Description:
A superb porter, hearty & dark. This one is a staff favorite, made with pale, crystal, Munich, chocolate, and black malts. The darker malts give Coal its color and rich flavor. We use Target and Willamette hops to yield a very subtle hop flavor in this porter. We cellar this beer for close to six months before releasing it on the thirsty throngs of fans.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of KAggie97. Slightly hazy dark brown with an orange hue and a beige head. Aroma of dried fruits and hard roasted malts. Medium body with burned and ashy malt accents, lightly sweet with a burned malt astringency. But quite decent. 051007

Bottle. Nice drinkable porter. Choclate in the nose and fine creamy head. A little heavy on the carbonation tough.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a reddish hue and a light brown head. Coffee, hard roasted malt and a minor liqourice edge. Thin bodied. Roasted malt flavour, a bit sharp. Has some bitterness into the finish.

Bottle. Dark brown with a frothy beige head. Roasty choco/coffee malt aroma with some tinny notes. Flavor of bittersweet chocolate and coffee malts coated with a thin veneer of smokiness. Moderate hop bitterness to complement the roasty flavors. Pretty good, especially if you come across it as a discounted item.

Bottle. Pours very dark brown (nowhere near coal) with a scant off-white head. Aroma is light but has some coffee and chocolate. Medium body and fine, active carbonation. Lightly malt sweet flavor with coffee and vanilla. Maybe a dash of molasses on the way to a dry, lightly pine-bitter finish. Kinda refreshing.

Pours a deep black brown color with a browish tan head. Smells stale and coffee like. Tastes like roasted malt and bitterness. Just ok very different.
